1,000+ RSS Feed Subscribers! Finally!

I check most of my sites regularly and it was very nice to come to my internet entrepreneur blog, DatMoney, to finally see the little image below:

Yes folks, I finally hit that infamous 1,000 RSS Feed Subscribers mark. I swear it took forever just to officially get past that hump. I mean, just a week or two ago I posted that I hit 999 subscribers but technically, I still never made it past that hump. Though, that’s the closest I could possibly get to it without going over… too bad I’m not playing The Price is Right, huh?

Honestly, I didn’t do anything different to increase my RSS Feeds. Matter of fact, I’ve been a little more focused on my other projects right now because of the income its bringing in. But I guess it was only a matter of time.

Getting past 1,000 subscribers was pretty similar to trying to get past your first 100. And once you get past that hump, it should get that much easier. But we’ll see… I bet tomorrow my feed count is going to drop back down to like 970 or so.

Anyways, I mentioned a few things were going to change, or take place, once I hit 1,000 subscribers, officially, and one of the big things that people have been waiting for is my long awaited contest. I’m still looking for sponsors for my contest theme but I’ve been having outgoing mail problems with my server so its a little hard to adjust. (I’ll talk about that on this weeks weekly updates).

If I don’t get enough sponsors for my current theme then I’ll hold a smaller contest just so I can get this underway and you guys can enjoy it.

Well, this post isn’t going to help anyone but I just wanted to let you guys know I finally got past the hump and now we’re going to be celebrating very soon! Of course, you guys can feel free to celebrate now if you want! Spread the word! Dance! Sing! Write a post linking back to me… okay, that last one was a shameless promotion but I had to try!

Update: I completely forgot to mention this earlier… thank you to everyone that has helped make this happen! If it wasn’t for you guys, this blog wouldn’t even be where it is at now. So, I appreciate what you guys have done to help me out.

999 Subscribers – So Close Yet So Far

So, today if you visited this internet entrepreneur and you checked out my little Feedburner chicklet which displays my feed count, you would have saw the little image below:

Of course, this is the closest you can get to 1,000 without actually getting to that number. As you guys are well aware, feed counts fluctuate on a daily basis so I’m pretty sure tomorrow it will drop down to 970 or so. But I’m getting a little excited simply because once I officially hit that 1,000 mark, there are a few things that are going down.

And yes, that includes having a contest to celebrate. I already know what kind of contest it will be and I’m hoping it does not disappoint. But I’m also still looking for sponsors so if you are interested in contributing anything, that would definitely be appreciated!

There are a few other things I’m probably going to be changing once I officially hit the 1,000 subscriber mark.

Easy Access to Subscribe – I should have done this a long while ago but if you look at DatMoney, there’s really no easy access for new visitors to subscriber. And by that, I mean simply typing in your e-mail address on the sidebar or something equivalent.

A lot of people still don’t know what RSS Feeds are and if they don’t know what it is, it’s our job to help them out by simplifying it. Maybe put something like “Enter your e-mail to get tips on how to make Adsense money” or something that really stands out.

Change in Theme - Besides giving easy access to potential subscribers, I figured it’s finally time for a change in this theme. Maybe this is what I needed this whole time to gain more subscribers and potentially make more money with this blog.

Of course, Contest - I’ve been mentioning this for a while now but I haven’t even been actively promoting to increase my subscribers. But I did say once I hit 1,000 subscribers, I was going to come out with a contest and personally, I think it’s long overdue.

There are a few other things that will probably change once I hit 1,000 subscribers but those are just a few I can think of.

Do you guys think I should do anything else once I hit 1,000 subscribers?

900 Subscribers Reached!

I know this isn’t a really big significant accomplishment but it is one nonetheless. I managed to reach 900 RSS Feed subscribers which is just on the stepping stones of hitting that century mark of 1,000.

I’m sure a lot of you guys are wondering how I managed to get this far. And honestly, there’s nothing that changed with my methods. Matter of fact, I’ve been promoting this blog a lot less so my traffic has been down quite a bit but surprisingly, my RSS Feed numbers just continue to climb.

A large part of that is simply the fact that a lot of people subscribe because they want the password to my $100/day from Adsense because most people still have no clue on how to make Adsense money so everyday people are trying to find out my method.

I know for a fact that a lot of people subscribe for the wrong reasons but I’m not stupid, a lot of people unsubscribe soon after they receive the password. And people wonder why I don’t send out the passwords immediately after people subscribe… because they’ll literally be a subscriber for a whole two and a half minutes.

Don’t worry to those of you guys that keep e-mailing me asking what the password is, you’ll get it. I’ve been sick and haven’t been checking my e-mails as much but you should receive it by the end of the month at the latest.

Anyways, I just wanted to celebrate a little bit on my accomplishment. Once I hit the 1,000 RSS Feed Subscribers mark, I will have a contest. And don’t you guys worry, if you’re already subscribed via e-mail, you are already entered to win whatever I choose as the contest prize(s).

So, stay tuned for the upcoming contest. The sooner I hit 1,000, the sooner you’ll see a contest. FYI… I know how much everyone loves blog contests!

Password to the $100/Day Adsense Post Will Be Sent Out This Week

I’m glad that a bunch of people were willing to sign up for my RSS Feeds via e-mail to obtain the password to my $100/day Adsense post. I did that as a tactic to increase my RSS Feeds and I have probably gained a little over 100+ new subscribers. Unfortunately, I didn’t have as much time to implement this tactic and promote it like I wanted.

Basically, I just hit up a few communities and just dropped a message to see if people would be interested in how I managed to make $100/day simply from Adsense alone. Of course, there were/are doubters because it seemed like any other spam type method others would “guarantee” to people.

Now I had a problem on my hands because I was off on the wrong foot and now I had to convince people it worked. It actually wasn’t hard at all. I simply told people they weren’t losing anything because technically they’re not. I’m not charging people (even though I should ), all I’m asking is for them to subscribe to my RSS Feeds.

Simple enough, right? Wrong!

There were still doubters and it almost seemed like one doubter would outweigh tons of potential subscribers. So, what I did was simply link to a previous post titled “Password Protected My $100/Day Adsense Earning” and have people read through the comments if they didn’t believe me.

The reason why I did that is due to the fact that there were a bunch of people that read my post before it was password protected. And on top of that, there were people who mentioned they have done the same strategy before and didn’t want that method getting exposed to spammers.

My work in convincing was done at that point. Why? Well, when people were complaining to not expose this method to spammers, they were basically saying they do the same tactics and it works. And I’m sure they make a lot more than $100/day and you could too.

So, like I said before, I’m glad for all the new subscribers that were willing to subscribe to my RSS Feeds for the password. But with each new sign up comes a new e-mail asking for it so I wanted to let you guys know an e-mail will be sent out this week.

I just hope you guys don’t become an abandoned RSS subscriber.

Get the Password to my $100/Day Adsense Post and More for Subscribing

A lot of people continue to e-mail me asking for the password to the “how I made $100/day Adsense” post and instead of replying to everyone individually, I will make you guys a deal – just subscribe to my RSS Feeds via e-mail and you’ll get it.

A few people thought I was just bullshitting trying to say I protected that post as a publicity stunt but in actuality, there were a few readers that didn’t want me to expose how I did it because spammers would find out and it would hurt those that know how to do it (including myself!).

You can even check out this post to see some commentators calling me out as well as people that have already tried this technique and knows that it works. So, without a doubt, my way just proves you can make $100/day strictly from Adsense alone . Matter of fact, you guys should be able to make more than me because I tend to procrastinate and I’m pretty, um, lazy.

But in addition to that password protected post, I will also have upcoming posts that will help you step by step on how I make money online, but in full details. And unlike most people, I will also give you a URL so you can see proof and go through the site so you can replicate it yourself, if you wanted to, of course.

I was going to write an eBook but I think that method is a little overrated and it does take additional time in which I don’t have. Plus, this is an easier way of handling and managing it on my end.

The only thing I ask is for you to subscribe to my RSS Feeds via e-mail and I will send you the passwords to my $100/day Adsense post as well as any future password protected posts. Unfortunately, I will only be sending the passwords to those that subscribe via e-mail so if you have DatMoney in your RSS readers, I would suggest subscribing via e-mail.

But don’t worry, I understand that some of you guys hate having posts delivered to your inbox every single time I write a new article. I’m not asking for you to stay subscribed via e-mail forever but just until the beginning of December.

500 RSS Feed Subscribers Reached!

I meant to post this the other day when it actually happened (because we know how RSS Feed numbers tend to fluctuate everyday) but I finally hit the 500 RSS feed subscriber mark! And I want to thank every single subscriber!

I know that isn’t anything too big to brag about because I’m still in the hundred(s) but if you think about all the other bloggers in a similar niche as me, you know it’s pretty hard getting subscribers in general. I mean, some people never hit the triple digit mark let alone get near the half way mark to four digits.

Honestly, I didn’t even notice it until someone told me about it and I had to check it out for myself. It was sitting at 505 and my first reaction was “wow, 500+ people actually read my crap on a daily basis?” LOL!

Each time I hit the next set of hundreds, I get pretty excited but 100, 200, 300 and maybe even 400 just doesn’t have the same feeling as it has when you hit 500. For the longest time I was stuck in the 200’s and 300’s and I’m not sure exactly what changed. I mean, I didn’t do anything different besides the same thing except I’ve been doing less.

So that tells me something:

1. People are finding my site and content useful and they’re actually subscribing.

2. My tactics for getting subscribers are continuing to work without me having to do anything extra.

Of course, I think it’s a mixture especially the fact that people have been intrigued more recently by my posts that include:

- How I Built My Niche Websites

- 10 Niche Websites in 10 Days

- My First $100/Day Adsense Earnings and How I Did It

- Site Flipping Blog Revealed

But I have also still been implementing my tactics that I wrote about in Search Engine Traffic = More Money and More RSS Feed Subscribers, occasionally. And trust me, it does work on any niche if you do it right.

I’m not sure how I’m going to celebrate my 500 RSS Feed Subscribers mark but I’m thinking about having a new contest. I know how much you guys love those! I mean, I haven’t had a contest here since we last gave away a Nintendo Wii!

Give Some Incentives to Get E-mail Subscribers and Keep Them!

If you have not entered my Market Leverage contest to win a Nintendo Wii , feel free to check out the contest post. Some say it’s hard to enter but I say it’s as easy as subscribing via e-mail or posting about it on your blog.

If you’re looking to get more RSS Feed e-mail subscribers , you may want to give some sort of incentive for people. I mean, unless you have incredible unique content then it should be easier. But sometimes even incredible unique content just isn’t enough.

Before you guys jump to conclusion, when I say “give an incentive” I don’t mean holding a contest and giving away prizes. We should all know that’s only a temporary method of getting e-mail subscribers because a bunch will just unsubscribe soon after the contest ends.

But again, if you have incredible unique content that blows readers’ minds away then I’m sure a majority of them will stay subscribed for quite sometime. Or you can give them additional incentives to stay subscribed. Keep reading…

As you know, I said “Search Engine Traffic = More RSS Feed Subscribers” and I stand by that. Of course, you need to know how to entice those visitors just like any other reader or visitor that stumbles across your blog.

Since I wrote that post, I have gained six e-mail subscribers on average each day and it’s usually hard to get e-mail subscribers regularly. Now I know you guys are thinking it was from my current contest but no, you’re wrong! For those who are subscribed via e-mail that wanted to enter my contest, they needed to officially comment for their entry to count .

Of course, I’m sure there are tons of people who simply don’t read the rules!

Anyways, instead of going over the same points that I made in my previous post, just go here to read it. In this post, I’m going to focus on how to actually keep your e-mail subscribers from staying subscribed.

Now most people use contests as a way to initially get subscribers, unfortunately, there are a bunch who will unsubscribe shortly after the contest… unless you give them incentives! (Geez, what have I have been saying this entire post?)

Here are a few quick tips to keep your e-mail subscribers subscribed that seem to work for me as well as others:

- Offer eBooks – this method is a great way to increase your RSS Feed subscribers as well as keep them. I mean, if they’re willing to subscribe to get the eBook, I bet they’re stay subscribed. Plus, if they’re impressed by your eBook (which is saying a lot) then they want more information that you would be supplying from your blog.

- Offer Free Advertising, Blog Reviews – People love to win things and with this method, you don’t have to do much. Just offer to write blog reviews or give an ad spot on your blog to a random e-mail subscriber each day, week, month, whatever. That way every single person would stay subscribed. This is definitely a great way to keep e-mail subscribers, plus, I noticed some people start commenting more as well!

- Offer anything worthy of giving away that does not require you paying – Like I mentioned above, free advertising, blog reviews don’t require any money spent from your pockets. You can even offer Entrecard credits, personal consoling, etc.

- Offer great content – A lot of people tend to overlook this but great content is one of the essential parts of keeping a reader around. Of course, offering incentives can be good but you won’t officially know if they’re sticking around simply for the incentives or the content.

- Entice with your content – in addition to having great content, make sure you entice them to come back for more. For instance, you can start a blog post series like I did when I wrote “Search engine traffic = More money and more RSS Subscribers” in which I covered only the RSS Feeds part and enticed people on the making money aspect . So, if they really wanted to know about the making money aspect , they would have to check back (or stay subscribed).

Now I know this may not work for every niche but it should . Personally, I know a few people who have gained hundreds, if not, thousands of e-mail subscribers from doing the simple steps above.

Utube, Yotube, Yutube, Youtude: Take Advantage of Misspelled Words

I used the different forms of “Youtube” such as Utube, Yotube, Yutube and Youtube as my examples for misspelled words. So, why in the hell am I misspelling these words? Well, the main reason is the fact that you can take advantage of the traffic it generates; particularly search engine traffic.

I know we should all be professional with grammar and punctuation when it comes to certain niches – particularly MMO, entrepreneur, blogging tips type of blogs – but once in a while a misspelled word (or words) can go a long way.

In my example with the “Utube, Yotube, Yutube and Youtude” words, many people spell these wrong when they’re searching for what they are really looking for. And I bet a majority of the times they don’t do it on purpose.

For instance, have you ever Googled something and accidentally missed a letter or typed too fast and added an additional letter? Well, you’re not the only one. And the more you know about SEO, the more you can take advantage of those certain misspelled words.

Now, I’m not saying Utube, Yotube, Yutube or Youtude are the only words that can generate traffic but if you look up potential traffic they can generate through search engines, you’d be amazed.

I took a quick screenshot of the estimated traffic from SEOTOOLS you could get from “yutube” as an example.

If you look, people could potentially gain up to 912 daily unique visitors. Now, it would require some knowledge in SEO but if you can manage to get yourself in the top 3 spots within that keyword rank, you’ll be all set. Of course, we are all aiming for that number 1 spot.

Now don’t go misspell every single word you can think of because more than likely your readers will get turned off on the fact that you’re writing is like a 5th grader. But if you do some keyword research, keep in mind misspelled words can help you as well.

I used to try to build a readership from social networking but did you know it could be better through search engine traffic? Matter of fact, search engine traffic not only can increase your readership with RSS Feeds but it can equal more money as well too!

Let’s start off on how search engine traffic can increase your RSS Feed subscribers and build your readership. When people use search engines, their primary focus is looking for a specific item/topic/product/information, etc, right? Well, when they find that information from your site, it’s your job to keep them there and get them as a subscriber.

You just need to know how to do it right.

See, first impression is everything to a search engine visitor because they have an unbiased opinion on your site, especially if it’s a MMO blog or something that most people bloggers despise. I mean, they landed on your page for a reason, you know?

Now, it’s your job to entice them to subscribe. And honestly, those buttons and lines saying “please subscribe here if you like this article” is fine and dandy but a search engine visitor probably wouldn’t subscribe on their first visit just based on that. I mean, would you?

Exactly.

So, when I say to entice them, you want to let them know there are going to be additional posts that will fit their needs and if they don’t want to miss it, they should subscribe. An example, you can do a ‘post series’ like a lot of bloggers do so if they liked your first post series entry, they’ll almost be forced to check back. I mean, you left them with a cliffhanger and they need to know the ending!

Another example: Say you own a celebrity photo blog, you can always write “subscribe here as I’ll be adding additional pictures of Beyonce nude here.” Well, maybe not of Beyonce nude but just additional pictures (now you get the Beyonce pic reference, right? You can see additional pictures of Beyonce below)… just make sure you actually update with more pictures or you’ll possibly have people unsubscribing like they just lost in your blog contest.

I know you guys are probably thinking this idea can be done for anyone, and it can but it’s easier said than done with search engine traffic. On top of that, you can increase your e-mail subscribers drastically by doing this because believe it or not, there are tons of people who have no idea what RSS Feeds are.

How can you get all those e-mail subscribers?

Well, make sure you put the e-mail subscribers box within the post you’re trying to attract. Customize the wording so it’ll fit the needs of that actual post rather than the entire blog. Now it’s just as simple as having them enter in their e-mail address without clicking any additional buttons, or even knowing what RSS Feeds means. And trust me when I say this, most people outside of the blogging world have no idea what RSS Feeds means, but if you make it so they only have to enter in their e-mail, I bet a lot of people would be willing to do that. (See my example below)

Now with that said, that is how you increase your RSS Feed subscribers through search engine traffic. If you would like to know how search engine traffic can make you more money, you’ll have to check back or simply subscribe to my RSS Feeds or you can simply enter in your e-mail and it’ll be delivered right to you!

See how I did that? Now I bet a bunch of people want to know how search engine traffic will help them make money.

Seriously, What the Hell is Up with Feedburner?

Since most of you guys won’t be reading until the end of this post, I’m finishing up the entry counts for DatMoney’s "Get Traffic" contest and I will be announcing winners via my Feed footer so make sure you check your RSS Feeds to see if you won! Update: Feedburner is currently not displaying my e-mail subscribers so I will have to postpone the drawing until Feedburner gets their act together!

I’m sure many of us use Feedburner as a way of keeping track of our RSS Feeds but lately, it hasn’t been that reliable. Should we all consider switching to a new RSS Feed service?

So, I’ve noticed that Feedburner tends to not include some of our subscribers, on more than one occasion. The very first time I noticed this was a few months ago when I dropped like 75 subscribers within one day. I panicked a little bit and hit up a couple of forums to see if I was the only one. I wasn’t. Luckily, it was just Feedburner not including Google Reader subscribers or e-mail subscribers.

But aren’t we all relying on that number, a little bit? I mean, especially for those of who work hard to get that number up and display it for our visitors to see.

This past week it happened twice. And honestly, that’s twice too many times.

The first time, they didn’t include my Google subscribers and my RSS Feeds went from 311 and dropped to 226, and this time (today) they didn’t include any of my e-mail subscribers so it dropped from 309 to 193.

I know that isn’t as bad as most but I do value my subscribers. And the more Feedburner miscounts my stats, the more I could possibly be losing more subscribers, or even advertisers and sponsors.

How?

Well, besides the content, a lot of people tend to view the daily subscribers as a blog’s loyal readership. And when new visitors come to my site, they would see my subscribers and probably think "wow, that many people are subscribed? I come here pretty often, maybe I should subscribe as well!"
I mean, there is a reason why we all flaunt our reader counts, right?

Also, a lot of advertisers will stop by your blog to see that number and determine if they want to advertise with you or not. Because that feed count is determined on the minimum amount of people who would view your content every single day .

So, I said it once and I’ll say it again "what in the hell is up with Feedburner?" and "Should we all consider switching to a new RSS Feed service?"
