Let me start off by saying I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and all that good stuff that comes with the holidays at this time of the year! So, we finally have a lucky winner picked at random for the 8GB iPod Nano! But before I get to who the winner is, I’m going to bore you guys with a few things…
People Didn’t Really Participate But Said They Did?
Let’s start off by saying that there were a handful of people who commented saying they subscribed via e-mail but in actuality, they didn’t. If you didn’t subscribe with an e-mail I could actually check, didn’t verify or simply just lied saying you subscribed, well, your entry was not included. Of course, a few people unsubscribed right before the contest too so I don’t know what happened… maybe they didn’t want to participate anymore?
It was definitely interesting because those people who said they subscribed and didn’t, I really don’t know what they were thinking. I actually take the time out to check to see if people subscribed, blogged (and included the links) and checked the proofs of the donation to the charities.
Late Entries Were Accepted
And based on my last post, I mentioned that late entries weren’t going to be accepted. I ended up including those who were late as well. At least for those who did it by the date’s deadline but happened to miss the time portion. If you’re from another timezone, you probably don’t keep track of other timezones’ time, right? Well, at least I don’t.
Plus, I included the late entries because I figured it was Christmas and this was a contest for that very reason so it would seem pretty scrooge-ish of me to not include them, huh?
Stats of the Contest
The contest definitely wasn’t as big as I wanted it to be. But given the short time I had for the contest, the non-promotion and the fact that people said they participated when in actuality they didn’t, made the entries a little longer than what I thought it was going to be.
The number of contestants that actually qualified to enter was 62 people totaling 213 entry points. Of course, those numbers would have been slightly higher if people actually subscribed when they said they did.
It was a little disappointing because I figured at least 100 people would participate and we didn’t even come close to hitting the 200 contestants mark for an additional iPod Nano giveaway.
I believe only three people ended up getting the maximum amount of entries because they donated to a charity and sent proof, subscribed via e-mail as well as blogged about the contest.
How I Randomly Picked and The Winner Is…
I basically made an excel spreadsheet and entered each contestants names as I received them. And for each entry, I would just type their name that many times.
For instance, if you subscribed via e-mail, blogged about the contest and donated to a charity then you would have ended up with 11 total entry points, so I would have typed your name 11 times for 11 possible chances to win.
Thank you to everybody that participated in our Christmas Contest for a chance to win an iPod Nano and I forgot to post this yesterday but the contest did already end. Unfortunately for some, there were a few late entries that will not count. I had a deadline of December 23rd at noon EST and a few of you guys managed to enter after.
We actually had a good number of participants in this contest, though, not as many as I would’ve liked. And surprisingly, there were at least a handful of you guys that donated to some charity in 2009 to participate in this contest. So, I applaud you guys and I know you didn’t donate to try to win something, you donated for the good. I just figured I would give you a chance to win something good just for giving back, you know?
I just wanted to remind you guys that there are only a few days left on the iPod Nano contest so if you haven’t had a chance to enter yet, feel free. It’s pretty easy to enter and it’s just as simple as subscribing to my RSS Feeds via e-mail and commenting on the contest post. If you’re already subscribed, all you have to do is take 10 seconds to comment on the contest post and simply say “I’m subscribed!”
As of right now, the contest seems to be going on pretty smoothly with pretty minimal promotion of it. Though, the unfortunate news is the fact that it doesn’t seem as though we will have 200+ people joining the contest for the second iPod Nano. I’d be a little surprised if we were to break the 100+ people that entered the contest.
Anyways, the contest ends on Wednesday December 23rd at noon EST and no late entries will be accepted! I will try to have the winner picked within the next day or two following the end of the contest.
Good luck to everyone and thank you all for participating! Stay tuned because again, I will probably have another contest shortly after this one ends.
And yes, that is a hint.
Yes, a contest is finally here! It’s not the big contest I’m going for to celebrate my 1,000+ RSS Feed subscribers but since it’s December and the fact that Christmas is almost here (and my birthday), I figured I would get some lucky person one of the cool gadgets… an 8GB iPod Nano! And if the contest reaches more than 200 contestants that enter, someone else will win one too! That means, there’s a chance to win TWO 8GB iPod Nanos!
The Prize
8GB iPod Nano – The newest Nano comes with some cool features that includes a video camera, FM radio tuner, pedometer to count your steps, built-in mic to record voice memos or record a lecture, and of course it holds up to 2,000 songs or 8 hours of video!
Of course, there’s a chance to win another 8GB iPod Nano… keep reading!
How to Enter
There will be various ways to enter which you can accumulate points for (winner will be chosen at random):
1. Subscribe to RSS Feeds via e-mail AND comment – 1 point Simply subscribe to my RSS Feeds via e-mail, confirm and comment below. If you are already a subscriber, all you have to do is comment below with the same e-mail you subscribed with.
This way it’ll cross off a lot of people who subscribe and don’t pay attention to these posts. Plus, it’ll finally give a LOT of people a chance to finally comment here after being an active subscriber and never saying a word here.
2. Blog about the contest AND include links – 5 points Just write up a quick post on your blog about the contest but make sure you include these following links:
- Internet Entrepreneur
- iBlogtoBlog
- Contest Post
For those of you guys that will probably question, the second link is one of my other sites.
Hey, it might potentially sponsor the second nano.
3. Donate to a Charity (show proof) – 5 points If you have donated or contributed to a charity of any sort in 2009 and you can show some sort of proof then you deserve more than just an iPod. I’m sure no one donates to charities to try to win something but I figured I’d at least give back to give you guys a chance to win an iPod for your generosity.
For the proof, if you have some sort of receipt (which you should be getting for tax purposes
) or something equivalent, send it on over and let me know. And please don’t try to lie or game the contest because that’s just plain shameful.
Chance for a Second iPod Nano
There is a chance to win a second 8GB iPod Nano but we have to have at least 200 contestants to enter this contest. That means if 200 of my e-mail subscribers decide to simply comment with a valid subscribed e-mail, or say 200 different people decide to post about the contest or some mix, then I will be giving out an additional iPod Nano!
Of course, I’m not counting total points, I’m counting strictly individual contestants. Please keep that in mind!
Deadline and Additional Info
The contest will end on December 23rd at noon Eastern Time. No late entries will be accepted! I’m hoping to get a winner picked that same day but if not, the following day.
The drawing will be picked at random and winners will have to contact me within 48 hours so I can try to get it to you.
Unfortunately, if you do not live in the United States, a cash equivalent will have to substitute for the iPod. Of course, if you prefer just taking the cash option, $150 will be sent via Paypal instead.
Also, if you would like to donate anything worthy of giving out for Christmas, feel free to contact me. It’s all about giving back and if people have donated to charities, don’t you think they deserve to try to win something to?
I think I covered everything, if not, I’ll update this post.
Good luck!
Now this isn’t a guarantee but I figured I’d just write a post on it because of the chance and initiative I took. And by taking this chance and initiative, I may get $500 for 10 minute of my time.
I’m sure you guys are wondering how in the hell I may possibly get $500 for 10 minutes of my time. Well, honestly, it wasn’t hard. But then again, I’m not even guaranteed it.
Last night I received an e-mail from my contact form titled “$500″ on the subject line. Naturally, I thought it was going to spam until I saw who was e-mailing it to me. It was Tyler Cruz of tylercruz.com whom is a pretty cool entrepreneur and successful one at that.
He was basically informing me of his weight loss competition and the status of it.
So, what does that have to do with me getting $500?
Well, do you guys remember when I wrote that post titled “Working as an Online Entrepreneur = Weight Gain?” That post was written to also enter in the competition/contest to win $500. And just by taking 10 minutes to write that quick post, I have the opportunity to win some cash.
But the best news was the fact that my chances of getting that $500 increased drastically. I also found out by reading Tyler’s lastest weight lose update that I’m the only person who actually took the initiative to vote against his opponent, Jonathan Volk.
It was quite surprising too because only two total people voted for this competition (one for Tyler and one for Jonathan). So, in essence, if Jonathan doesn’t lose 6.5 pounds within the next 30 days, I’m going to be $500 richer than I was.
I know what most of you guys are thinking, this is all based on luck. But the purpose of this post isn’t about hoping to win or luck, it’s more about taking action, taking chances with your online projects and if you have nothing to lose (besides some time) and everything to gain, you should jump on that opportunity when it arises.
Honestly, I wasn’t even going to enter the contest because I was being lazy and I didn’t think I would win. But I just decided to take a shot at it because I wanted to cover the topic on weight gain and living as an online entrepreneur and of course, the chance to win $500.
I hope this is a lesson for all of you guys, if you see a great opportunity, take a chance but more importantly, take action! Because who knows, you may end up with better rewards than just $500!
