“How to Generate Traffic to your Website” eBook (And Why You Should Get It!)

Monday, April 7th, 2008 | Blogging - MISC, Blogging for Traffic with 13 Comments

how to generate traffic to your website ebook cover

If you have a website, product or simply something you want others to know about, you have to promote it, right? Because you could have the best product, or you could be the best writer in the world and no one would know it. So, how would you do this online? How do you truly generate traffic to your website?I’m always emphasizing how important it is to build traffic to your site. And more importantly, to build your readership of people that will continue to come back. And although I continue to find out new things throughout my online ventures, you can learn from my mistakes but more importantly, you want to learn what has worked for me so you can use the same techniques.

I mean, I’ve been preaching “Help me help you with blogging tips through my personal experiences” for sometime and I’ll go the distance for my readers.

stephane grenier author of how to generate traffic to your websiteSo, what I did, I decided to purchase an eBook titled “How to Generate Traffic to your Website” written by Stephane Grenier, because I wanted to learn more. I mean, we all can’t know everything; we have to start from somewhere, right? And although my methods do help build traffic, just by reading the first 30-40 pages of this eBook, I was in shock on how much I have missed out on.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I never claimed to know everything. My blog is about trial and error so you guys can learn through my success and my failures. So, before I continue I highly suggest that you get yourself a copy of “How to Generate Traffic to your Website.” I mean, I didn’t even finish reading it because I was so anxious to tell you guys about it.

And don’t worry, you will see another post after I have read the entire eBook and confirm that all the tips have helped me. But believe me, the longer you wait for me to test it out; the longer you’ll be wasting in building traffic to your own site.

So, how did I manage to choose this particular eBook out of all the ones out there now?

Well, the thing about this eBook is the fact that it’s not like all the other ones you’ve probably seen like “how to make $5,000 extra each week by buying this book!” or “how to get 1 million visitors in your first two weeks!” I was convinced to get this eBook – besides the fact that it comes from a very accomplished professional who has a proven track record – but also he basically tells you the core fundamentals (different strategies, the pros and cons, helpful suggestions, online marketing tools, etc) on how to proceed on building traffic.

And yes, a lot of people tend to overlook the fundamentals and try to jump into the deep end of the pool. Now, before you jump into it, learn how to swim first. You’ll get a lot further knowing what to do.

But the selling point for me to get this eBook was the fact that it wasn’t like all those spammy-type eBooks out there. It gives you realistic and proven tips for the long run, rather than the short term deal. Again, the fundamentals that people often overlook. Matter of fact, I have seen quite a few eBooks and all of them tend to only be a few pages long, but not “How to Generate Traffic to your Website.” This eBook goes into so much depth that it tries to fill as much information within the 138 pages. And so far, every single page has been useful information for me.

I would give you some excerpts, but I think there are copyright laws preventing me from doing that. But instead, I’ll list some of the main topics this eBook covers. It ranges from SEO (keyword strategies, Google Trends, Meta-data) to Content, Blogging, Social Networking,Web Directories, Google Adwords and more.

This eBook, in essence, is an informative resource and guide for various online traffic generating techniques. Because that’s where it starts – with building traffic and your readership.

So, for all of you guys looking to make money online, you need to build traffic to your site first and foremost and I’m going to go on record and guarantee that this eBook is going to help me in more ways than one. I just hope you guys jump on the opportunity to obtain this as well so we can remind each other with things we forget to do.

And trust me, I definitely need some of you guys to read this eBook and remind me of some of things I will probably overlook!

April Fool’s Aftermath – Great Publicity and Exposure

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 | Blogging - MISC, Blogging for Traffic with 9 Comments

April Fool’s day movie is good publicityApparently, throughout the entire Blogosphere, people were writing prank posts and it definitely was great for publicity. I’m not going to lie, there was some buzz created throughout the Blogosphere that really caught my attention thinking if it was real or not. Then there were also those that just wasn’t realistic at all. But with these great publicity stunts, does it and can it work against you?

Of course. Luckily, a lot of people have a good sense of humor.

I think most of the comments I’ve read on peoples April 1st post, they automatically assumed it was a prank. And yes, these prank posts have gathered a lot of publicity – and any publicity is good publicity… Right? Maybe? Hopefully? Of course!

That may be true to a certain extent, but some of these stunts may turn a reader off and you can potentially lose more than you think. Of course, it depends how serious it was. But if you look around the blogosphere, there were different variations of jokes that people pulled. And with those jokes, you have to remember that you might need to prepare for the consequences and repercussions.

Wait, what? Consequences and repercussions? Yup!

Not everybody will have the same sense of humor as you and there will be tons of people that will probably be offended. Matter of fact, I’ve read that a lot of people were threatening to unsubscribe to RSS Feeds, never come back to peoples sites and so on. And I’m sure a lot of people did.

On the other hand, some bloggers actually had their RSS Feeds increase. Drastically. Rather than naming names, you’re just going to have to take my word for it. :P But unfortunately, I wasn’t one of those people!

On my April 1st post, I did not post a practical joke (even though I’m probably one of the goofiest people you’ll meet!), but rather I posted a hypothetical situation from Jason of theuniversitykid.com and his April Fool’s post. I got an uproar of people disagreeing with his prank of selling a permanent ad on his blog for $1,000… but I think I sent him some good traffic! I just hope he doesn’t steal my readers away!

So, look around the Blogosphere and just look at peoples April Fool’s post and I can guarantee you that those posts built such controversy, such commotion, such… great publicity that it was hard to overlook!

I guess it’s a live and learn process and now I’ll have to wait a whole year to pull my prank of publicity.

I just hope I don’t need to rely on a prank/publicity stunt to continue to build on my readership!

But what did you guys think of the Blogosphere’s April Fool’s?

Getting Noticed with Twitter (and Get Some Good Traffic!)

Thursday, March 27th, 2008 | Blogging - MISC, Blogging for Traffic with 26 Comments

Get Noticed with Twitter logo

Warning: Before you continue to read why you should sign up for Twitter, by doing so, you are taking a risk of becoming more addicted to it than blogging! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Most of you guys already know about Twitter, I mean, the last few weeks all I seen were Twitter posts and how you can “increase your traffic with Twitter” or “use the full benefits of Twitter!” So, I guess it’s my turn to tell you why you should sign up for Twitter, huh? I will just say, “because you will get noticed!”

I have only been a member of Twitter for a couple days and I’m already interacting with some great bloggers (and non-bloggers) and that includes a couple of A-listers. Twitter is definitely a good way to get noticed by your peers and definitely to expand out to build a bigger readership. I mean, who doesn’t want exposure for their site(s)?

Just picture yourself in a big chat room with fellow bloggers just sharing thoughts, stories, ideas or just showing how crazy your personality is. *Cough* Garry Conn *Cough*

Twitter allows you to interact and show people what’s behind that blogger-mind of yours. I mean, how often does a little blogger like me get to leisurely chat with Darren of Problogger or Maki of Doshdosh?

I know they’re busy and all, but here’s the secret… and don’t tell anybody! Psst… come closer… they’re busy because… they’re on Twitter all day! And there you have it ladies and gentle-fellas! The true reasoning behind why bloggers are so busy when they’re not blogging.

Hey, Twitter shows me A-listers are just like any of us – bloggers, normal people, Twitter addicts!

Okay, sorry, I’m getting a little off-track with my ass kissing. And now you’re probably wondering, “who cares if I get noticed by an A-lister?” Fine, that’s understandable that there are tons of people who could careless. But Twitter will benefit you more than just getting noticed, you will get guaranteed traffic!

Personally, I’ve gotten about 30-40 unique visitors from yesterday to today. That’s not saying much, but then again, I didn’t drop a single link through my ‘updates’ and I only been there for a couple days. On top of that, Twitter visitors average about a minute and a half with a 56% bounce rate.

Wow, compare that with my Entrecard traffic the past couple days - average of 2 seconds and a bounce rate of 96%! (no exaggeration on those stats, I’ll screenshot it again if you want).

Obviously, there’s no comparison.

But according to 45n5, Twitter is their #10 referral. Given the fact that they’ve gotten over 20,000+ uniques this month, that’s pretty good!

Also, if you do get the attention of an A-list blogger, sometimes they’ll share your link to their readers. Additionally, if you’re lucky, you’ll get some link love on their blog.

Don’t believe me? Well, then you must’ve not been to Problogger because the other day he simply asked his ‘followers’ to “nominate their best post from the last week” and he gave them link love.

You still think you won’t get noticed with Twitter? Hey, I got noticed by a bunch of people who I just met for the first time. So feel free to add me when and if you do sign up!

Special shout out to some of my Twitter noobs buddies: Brunette, Garryconn, Ericablonde, Gorillasushi, Saphrym, Rhyswynne… and if I forgot to mention you here, just let me know!Twitter LogoTwitter Logo

Is it a Coincidence my Stats Gotten Better Since Switching to WP?

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008 | Blogging - MISC, Blogging Tips, Blogging for Traffic with 21 Comments

the comic book guy from the simpsons ponderingAs a lot of you guys already know, I recently switched to Wordpress and my own hosting server last week. Remember, my site was down for a couple days and we had the picture of the lovely Eva Mendes bookmarking my homepage. But let’s not get off track here, but if you missed the nice picture and want to see it, click here.

It has only been one week since I officially switched to Wordpress, and besides all the additional features that you couldn’t do with Blogger, my stats also increased.

Coincidence? I think not!

Okay, I’ve been procrastinating about switching to Wordpress for a few months but I finally did and couldn’t be any happier. Honestly, some people kept making fun of the fact that I wasn’t getting comments because Blogger’s comment feature, um, pretty much sucks. On top of that, my design was so nice that a lot of newbie bloggers couldn’t find where the comment button was!

Of course all the Wordpress users are probably like “Well Jay, obviously Wordpress is better! But damn, I didn’t know it was going to improve my stats so quickly!

The Stats…

I only posted three official times since I converted to Wordpress and since then, I have received almost 50 comments (excluding mine own replies). The week prior to me switching, I had about 24ish and a majority of that came because of the “If You Didn’t have Entrecard, Your Blog Would Have No Visitors” article I wrote.

So far so good, twice the comments which shows the quality of my visitors!

Now the visitors… well, the visitors in quantity was slightly down, but then again, I didn’t really hit the social media sites and when I didn’t, I started to get more quality visitors and it boosted my Alexa ratings. (Alexa daily was hovering around 40-50,000 and the week prior was around 80,000)

And since my switch, my pageviews has been almost three times higher than before!

Okay, you must’ve did something different Jay!

I guess, but I haven’t been marketing my articles as much as I usually do and my stats are still increasing? So, the difference, I guess I did less marketing than I normally would.

Hmm… so stats went up since switching to Wordpress… coincidence, I think not!

So, what in the hell was the point of this article? Well, if you want to increase your visitors, comments, interaction with your readers, boost your Alexa ratings, etc, you might want to consider switching to Wordpress.

Hey, I did it and so far it’s been wonderful. Matter of fact, I had a lot of first time commentators.

Now I wonder was it because of my “top commentators” plugin or the “comment luv” plugin? Eh, either way it’s helping you guys as well as me!
