The following is a paid review in my honest opinion. Being paid is good but it does not influence the review. If you’re interested in a review of your site or product, please visit my advertising page.
Have you guys ever heard of rapidshare or uploading.com? They are basically file sharing networks in which you can get programs, TV shows, movies, etc you’ve been looking for. And there’s an easy file search engine that can help you find those exact things.
I was actually introduced to General-Search.com recently and their website has actually helped me in more ways than one. Besides being able to search for potential programs, shows and other files that I’d be interested in downloading for free, they’ve actually helped with getting lots of traffic. But we’ll get to that in a minute.
How It Works
If you’re looking for a file sharing search to conveniently find files from uploading.com, rapidshare.com and a few other sites then it’s made pretty easy for you. All you have to do is type in a specific keyword and it’ll pull up everything related to it and tell you which website the file is hosted on, the name of the file as well as the size.
Of course, if you happen to draw a blank on files you’re looking for then they also have a “top searches” and “latest searches” section which shows you the main keywords people are searching for. And this is how they helped me get tons of traffic.
How They Helped Me Get Traffic
Since this is a search engine directed specifically for files people are looking for, that means no matter what, someone out there is searching for where to find these files. And since they have the “top searches” and “latest searches”, the keywords are given to you right there. You could easily write some posts related to those searches because we know people are looking for them and it can help increase your traffic drastically as well.
And it’s definitely an interesting mix of keywords because some of them seem to be in other languages or something. Also, a bunch of them seem to be abbreviations that I never even heard of but like I said, it should definitely help regardless.
Suggestions
There’s basically one main thing I would consider changing about the site and its adding a sort option. I tried searching for different files but there was no way to sort by name, size, etc. I like things to be easy as possible especially since I’m lazy. And since its a search engine of files I’m looking for, I like to narrow down my selection if at all possible.
Conclusion
So, regardless if you’re looking for the right file to download or where to get those files from or maybe because you’re interested in what people are looking for then you should definitely check out general-search.com. Personally, I wish I knew about these type of search engines for files previously because its a hassle trying to search for them in regular search engines!
I’m still in the works in my tests but it seems as though I ran across an interesting way to get 3 of your sites to rank on the first page of Google for a popular search term. I’m still testing it out for myself as we speak but I know for sure it works because I have seen it with this website owner to be remained nameless… for now.
As you know, there are only 10 search results that appear on the front page of Google when you look for something. So, occupying 3 of the top 10 slots are pretty valuable especially given the fact that almost all of the search engine traffic comes from that first page. And even more come just from the top 3 search results.
So, what if I told you there’s a way to get 3 of your sites… better yet, what if I told you there’s a way to get one site to rank on the first 3 search results? That would be pretty damn good, huh?
But in my instance, I would suggest using 3 different sites as it will probably be more profitable. The reason why it will probably be more profitable is because visitors who visit 3 different sites are more prone to clicking ads on each site. If they all come back to the same site and notice that, more than likely they will just click back on their browser and go to the very next search result… on a different site.
Okay, so how do you actually do this? Well, I mentioned that it was an “interesting” way and some people may not agree that this should be done. If you don’t want to read it, just don’t continue…
This topic gets discussed quite a lot but a lot of people still don’t know how to get ranked higher on Google. Although, no one knows exactly how Google functions, a lot of us have tested out different things that have worked and just took it and ran with it. Of course, some of the testing that I have done seem to contradict in some ways which leaves a question mark for myself. But either way, search engine traffic has been key to a majority of my online income.
Before I go on, I would just like to point out that your sites layout and design really have nothing to do with you getting ranked higher in Google. I have built some of the ugliest sites just to get something out there and ranked and surprisingly, some of those ugly ass sites rank a lot better than my well designed ones.
Anyways, let’s get to the things that I know have worked and then I’ll follow with things I didn’t know before which seem to work now.
What Has Worked in Getting Ranked Higher in Google
Picking your Keywords – I always try to use keywords that I know will be searched for and the less competition that keyword has, the better. If you want to know how I do keyword research , check out that post. If you want to know the easy way of seeing how much competition a keyword has, just do a simple search in Google and put quotes around it.
For instance, “make money online blogging” and then you would see how many results you get back. It’s not always accurate but you can get a rough idea just based on that.
Titles – If you’re making pages, posts or whatever, those specific keywords you’re trying to target within that specific post should be included within your title. Personally, I try to put the specific keyword as the entire title rather than just the main ones. And so far, it has seemed to work just fine.
For instance, if you wanted to rank for “make money online blogging” then I would just use that entire keyword phrase as the title rather than something equivalent to “I make money online blogging doing some easy things!”
Both ways work but the second way would probably need a lot of more link building than the first. And in my experience, it’s a lot easier just putting the keyword phrase as the entire title.
Permanent Link Structure – Speaking of putting the keyword phrase in the post title, you should probably have your title included within your URL as well. In the instance given above, it should look like “http://www.datmoney.com/make-money-online-blogging.html” or something equivalent.
I can openly admit that I won’t understand search engines and I’m sure I’m not the only one. As of right now, my new posts are not getting indexed in Google for a lot of my sites and I’m now questioning why. But like I said, I won’t understand search engines fully and no one really will, but they can assume things by testing.
See, the thing I won’t understand about search engines are their algorithm and as I was doing my research, it seems as though no one except for Google will know how Google officially works. Let me give you a few examples…
People say duplicate content will get you penalized with Big G. But with testing, it seems as though you will only be penalized if the duplicate content is on the same website. So, if people are copying your content and putting it on their own page and they have a higher pagerank (or something that tells them their site is more important than yours) then their post will probably rank higher than yours.
Speaking of Pagerank, that’s just another topic that is meaningless. Supposedly, Pagerank (which I heard they’re kind of getting rid of, in a way) is used to determine how important a website really is; which is completely false.
I’m sure a lot of people know this already but since I do this on a regular basis, I feel I should, at the very least, mention it. I mean, people overlook the small things all the time so why not give a quick reminder. Who knows, many most people don’t even notice it because its so small and they see it all the time.
There are a lot of ways on how to get long tail keywords easily and you can use all these keyword programs for free or you can pay for them but they aren’t reliable all the time too. And if you definitely pay for those programs, there’s a easy and free way of getting these long tail keywords.
Did I build up the hype for it yet? Probably not. So, let’s continue…
What Is a Long Tail Keyword?
You know I realized that a lot of people who come here or are subscribers of mine are brand new to the online entrepreneurship stuff so they don’t know all the terms and stuff. So, I’m going to try to explain things a little bit so people can follow along without having some sort of blank stare at the computer screen (or iPhone or whatever nice gadget you have).
Long tail keywords are phrases surrounded by a specific keyword. Long tail keywords are specific phrases that people search for. They are generally more targeted than the generic keyword itself which could lead to a higher conversion rate, more subscribers and simply more traffic from search engines. Let me give you an example…
Say your generic keyword is “money”, then your long tail keywords could be something like:
- make money online
- money making ideas
- how to make Adsense money
- DatMoney is the best website ever
Okay, maybe people won’t be searching too much for that last long tail keyword but I figured I’d toss that in there anyways.
How Can Long Tail Keywords Help You?
I quickly mentioned it already but long tail keywords can help you in numerous ways. Long tail keywords will help you get more traffic, particularly targeted search engine traffic. Of course, not only will you get more traffic but since it’ll be more targeted, it will lead to higher conversion rates on whatever you’re selling (if anything), possibly more clicks on your ads and or a increase in your subscribers.
