Thanks for visiting my entrepreneur blog!
My name is Jay (no, that is not a picture of me sitting on the rocks) and I started this blog way back in 2007. When I created this blog, I had the intent of blogging about the different ways of making money online to show that someone that knew nothing about it can actually do it. I think I have done quite a good job given the fact that I was only doing it part-time and used the income I made to pay off tens of thousands of dollars in student loans.
Of course, I did spoil myself a little too! You need to have a balance in life – work hard, play hard. I also saved and invested some of the money for the future.
I wanted to document and share my firsthand experience with all of you – both success and failures – to help you guys succeed too.
DatMoney.com’s Background History
DatMoney.com was created in November 2007 and actually started on the free blogging platform, Blogger.com. We switched over to a self-hosted WordPress and haven’t looked back since.
At the blogs peak, we were making somewhere around $1,500 monthly from private ads, Google Adsense, paid reviews and affiliated links (I also managed my banner ad design work on here). I also had a handful of other online ventures, which helped me pay off all debt, save and splurge a bit.
Towards the end of 2009, I was getting too consumed with other ventures and not updating regularly so I tried to sell this blog. I had a set amount I wanted to sell it for so I could invest that money into other projects but it didn’t meet the price. The highest bid went for $6,500 privately ($6,000 publicly) so I decided that I would keep it.
By the summer of 2011, wasn’t even updating this blog and at the same time, I ran into so many complications with all my online ventures that I decided to take a leave-of-absence. This leave lasted for the next couple of years, luckily, I was still working my full-time office job, which was good pay and very, very good benefits.
In 2015, the same year I decided to quit my full-time job, my dedicated server kept getting hacked so I deleted the entire site so I could start completely fresh. The main reason wasn’t because I kept getting hacked but rather when I was reading back on old articles, there were a bunch of, well, rushed and not very useful posts. I want to write the best and most helpful content I can possibly write for you guys.
So, here we are with a new design, brand new articles coming, and a brand new mindset to be more in depth and helpful.
And yes, this includes a business plan this time around which is essential!
Who Is This Site For?
Quite frankly, it’s for those who always wanted to take steps towards working for themselves full-time. For those who always wanted to start their own blog or website but didn’t know where to begin. For those who are tired of working a 9-5 job just for a paycheck and wants to do something they enjoy. For those with ambition. For those who are willing to learn, take chances in life. For those who are willing to work towards living the life that most won’t understand. For those who want to live by the motto “if you love what you do for a living, you never work a day in your life”.
Let’s work together and get you there!
