Google News Site: Traffic Update

Friday, April 9th, 2010 | Blogging for Traffic with 6 Comments

As you guys know from my last post How to Get Listed in Google News, one of my sites was accepted into Google News and the very next day that our articles was actually indexed, our traffic spiked instantly. Honestly, I don’t think it’s going to go back down as long as we continue posting.

Before I continue, if there are any authors who are interested in joining our team then feel free to drop me a note. We do have Adsense revenue sharing which appears on your individual posts. Though, to be fair to our current team members, you would have to post 10 posts before you are able to add your Adsense information.

Our site was running for a little over a month before we were accepted into Google News. We were building links and our traffic was steady but not extremely impressive. I think we eventually starting averaging around 100 visitors daily with a mix coming from search engines and other websites. The day after our site got indexed in Google News and our posts started showing up our traffic spiked to around 3,200.

Was this a fluke? I wouldn’t say it’s a fluke because if we post consistently like we should be doing then I would say the traffic should continue to climb.

The interesting part of all of this is every post that I manage to write gets instant traffic. And when I say “instant”, I mean we would probably get at least 100 visits to that one post within a couple of minutes, if not more.

Of course, it depends on the topic and if its actually appealing to readers and if its being searched for.

I know a few thousand unique visitors isn’t much to brag about but that number was based on the first day which I think is a very good stepping stone. It’s definitely far from the 50k daily but small steps will eventually get you where you want to be. :)

Anyways, that was just a simple update in case you guys were interested.

Good start Jay, remember they only stay in GN for three days so its not long term traffic. Of course if you can get the scrappers( which will likely happen) to start pulling in your posts, then you will start to mushroom because of the links that get built automatcially. I know you probably already do this, but make sure you are not publishing a full feed on these blogs or some of the scrappers won’t give you the backlink for scraping your content.

    Hi,

I’ve been following your posts about getting featured on Google News and both very happy and impressed at your success with it.

There’s a good chance I may take you up on the offer of writing for your site, and send an application/resume for your consideration.

You (understandably) haven’t posted a link to that website, or otherwise named it, so what kind of article topics would you be looking for?
