Pagerank Update 2010

Yodas Pagerank

I’m a little late but I actually just noticed this earlier last week. There was a pagerank update 2010 that was apparently done on New Year’s and we’re all seeing it now. Of course, I’m always mentioning that pagerank means nothing and pagerank is useless and so on but some of you guys like to live and die by it.

Currently, DatMoney is still a PR0 on this update and I’m perfectly fine with that. I checked most of my keyword rankings and nothing has drastically changed. I may have moved up a position or down one but all and all, it seems as though I’m still ranking just fine in Google. That’s all I care for and that’s all you guys should really care for too.

Some people assume things about how valuable pagerank is but in actuality, you don’t need one to get ranked on the first page of a popular keyword.  If that were the case, a lot of smaller blogs would outrank just about everyone!

One of my sites is a PR4 and ever since the new pagerank update, I swear I’m getting ranked and indexed worse than I was before. I see a lot of my posts getting ranked 10-15 when previously it was in the top 5. Also, I noticed that instead of my posts getting indexed within a day (or two), it seems as though it takes about a week on average now.

Shoot, I rather have a PR0 and have my posts indexed within a day than a PR4 and having it index a week later! I guess that’s just an example that pagerank is basically useless.

It’s pretty useless similar to this post. I just figure some of you guys like to know when Google updates their pageranks and stuff so I figured I’d mention it. Though, most of the time I’m just bashing how worthless a pagerank really is and how unimportant it is when it comes to getting traffic or making money online.

Anyways, how did you guys do on this pagerank update?

Ya PR is only one of the 200+ criteria which Google use to rank a page in Search Results. So PR contribution is .5% only (if its a simple math).

The reason you are getting not so good postilion in Search Result for PR4 blog is due to other things. May be some SEO problem or competitor are doing better in SEO.

Well, I think we all know that PR isn’t that importent anymore, but it does give a kind of indication of what google thinks about your blog. I also think its kind of a fun feature as well.

My blog changed from PR 0 to PR 3

Its true that pagerank is only a minor factor when it comes to SERP, in fact it is a little annoying that Google rates a page for importance on a subject and then places sites of a lesser PR in front of you. A little nonsensical really

PR is important when it comes to links. If your homepage ranks a PR2 the outbound links from that page are more valuable than a page with a PR0.

I get what you mean by “not important” though. If you had 100,000 subscribers and PR0 than PR wouldn’t mean much. It depends on what you are doing really.

Went down on the PR page rank update, but just like you I am not sweating it and I am more concerned about the overall picture than the simple number hehe.

    Till then,

Even I think that PageRank is not that important. (Actually I don’t really understand how it works.)

My blog moved from PR0 to PR2 .

In fact I noticed the PR change later than you. At first I was happy that my sites kept their rank despite of the lack of work that I had put to them. But it was not until the end of January when all my websites adjusted to the new change. It looks like it takes over a month for Google servers to complete all the updates.
