I can openly admit that I won’t understand search engines and I’m sure I’m not the only one. As of right now, my new posts are not getting indexed in Google for a lot of my sites and I’m now questioning why. But like I said, I won’t understand search engines fully and no one really will, but they can assume things by testing.
See, the thing I won’t understand about search engines are their algorithm and as I was doing my research, it seems as though no one except for Google will know how Google officially works. Let me give you a few examples…
People say duplicate content will get you penalized with Big G. But with testing, it seems as though you will only be penalized if the duplicate content is on the same website. So, if people are copying your content and putting it on their own page and they have a higher pagerank (or something that tells them their site is more important than yours) then their post will probably rank higher than yours.
Speaking of Pagerank, that’s just another topic that is meaningless. Supposedly, Pagerank (which I heard they’re kind of getting rid of, in a way) is used to determine how important a website really is; which is completely false.
A friend of mine was rocking a PR0 loud and proud and was killing with his traffic. I mean, he was probably getting tens of thousands of unique visitors, if not more, everyday. And then I hear so many people with PR3-PR5 complaining how they’re not getting a lot of traffic. Well, it has more to do with your link building and not really the Pagerank. Well, nothing to do with the Pagerank, actually.
Anyways, I didn’t mean for this post to turn into a bitching session but it seems as though a lot of my posts on various sites aren’t getting indexed in Google fast like it usually does. A lot of my posts usually get indexed within a day or two but it seems as though a few haven’t been getting indexed for the past week or two.
Matter of fact, one of my posts from a couple weeks ago was indexed and on the first page for a popular keyword and then the next day it seems as though it just dropped out of there.
I was doing a lot of research about this and the overall theme seems to be to just wait it out and eventually everything will fall into place. Just because it’s not getting indexed as fast, doesn’t mean its not getting indexed. And just because your post disappears after a day or two doesn’t mean it won’t show right back up sometime later.
Anyways, like I said, I don’t understand search engines because of how they work. I go with what has worked for me and build off of that. The bad thing about this is the fact that I sometimes rely on search engines too much… I mean, search engine traffic is essential when making $100/day from Adsense, you know?
Has anyone else experienced these problems of not getting indexed in Google or has your posts been on the front page for a popular search term and then disappeared sometime after?

i think you are correct, nobody knows
I have a blog for my son that has no links and only been around a month and google picks up new posts in 20 minutes sometimes, amazing really
then I have some sites with good pr and google won’t touch them for 4-5 days
of course never getting a post indexed is a mystery also
if I could have every page I created indexed though I’d be really rich
I’d create millions of pages from product feeds.
You sure are right about nobody knows how google works. Their always changing their rules.
Maybe your site has been penelized? Or something like that. Anyway my posts are doing oke, so I have no complaints.

It kind of seems like posts are taking a bit longer to be indexed.
It used to be quick and easy to get a post indexed but now it seems to take a week or longer.
You are not alone in this. Its taking Google longer lately than it used to. I’m thinking this may be related to the new engine Caffeine. Even though its not launched yet, it seems that some things have changed the past few weeks.

It might be because of your drop of google PR, For me within 30 minutes I get indexed my blog post.
Again that you mentioned here that search engine traffic do not depend upon PR it depend upon your rank on google.

Aye, they’re supposed to be changing the algorithm.
All you can do is build links and hope they like you, I guess.

I’m not sure if this applies to you or not but I’ve noticed that over the last 6 months it’s the short posts that seem to fall by. Indexed on day one and then ignored from then on. My guess was that you needed enough unique content (keeping in mind your templated content) to get each post indexed. For example if you have a template with 200 words then having a post with 200-300 never seemed to be long enough, break the 450 mark and I could indexed.
The second thing which also seemed to have an inlfluence was the number of posts on the home page. Basically I needed each new post to stay on the home page for 7-10 to have it “stick” in the index. Anything less than that and when it went from the home page it also went from the index.
Just some ramblings from somebody who messes around with this type of stuff quite a lot.
I don’t think that new post not getting in google i think you need to work on your content that should be meaningful and useful and unique also. That will make you help for the index.
Hi this is intriguing! I started blogging 3 months ago and I thought it’s normal and works like that.
And about the duplicate content that you said, I never thought that duplicating an article from another site will get you banned. This is amazing not because I want to duplicate articles but this conspiracy as what I think of it is surprising.
Well, I’ll wait for some of your articles about this subject and follow every move you make. Thank you very much for this article!
Hi mate,
Well every single website I own has it’s own characteristics when thinking in terms on search engine indexing and traffic.
I have sites that make 10k hits a day with traffic from google (the traffic is junk btw, useless keywords). As you might expect pages under this domain get indexed pretty quickly.
I also have some other sites that take for ever to get indexed. And I promote all of my sites using the same technique.
So all i can say is, keep on providing great content and forget about SEs in the sense that they dont need you
they’re automated just let them be.
Good luck mate.
@Danny – Great advice.
I regularly post the blog in using vox services but many time i found that the blog post can not be indexed in google, while it instantly indexed in blogpost.
Danny did give good advice, far too many people “worry” about the search engines. Pftt, just do what you do and the rest will work out.

What can you recommend to me so I can get my new articles get indexed in google right away?
thanks in advance. Anyways, here’s my blog Blogmatters.net.
Frankly, I’ve never had a problem getting my pages indexed, so I can’t understand the big deal. I create some good (not great), original content and build a few links. Generally, it hasn’t taken me much time at all. Maybe I’m lucky.
I don’t really have problem getting pages indexed. There is one site that I manage that has a good PR rank (which means nothing, I know) but still seems to be floundering in SERPs and I have no idea what’s wrong.

Happened to me, too, a few days ago. Suddenly my Wordpress posts are not searchable with Google. It is like the blog got turned ‘off’ by Google, though I see no violations or problems using their web tools. If things don’t get cleared up, I’ll contact Google. There is a way to do that with their Webmaster tools if you get an account with them.
