I finally got a chance to analyze my stats since I implemented the use of Wordpress tags as Keywords just a few weeks ago and its actually quite rewarding. So, if you are a Wordpress user and you’re looking to increase your Adsense earnings, I would suggest you read that post.
As I was going over my Google Analytics, I was pretty much in awe on how you can check so many different stats. There is even an option to track your Adsense earnings, what posts/pages the money is coming from, which referrer brings in the most clicks, etc.
Personally, I thought they only tracked visitors, pageviews, etc but analyzing the money aspect definitely helps you improve what to focus on and what makes you the most money.
If you go to your Google Analytics dashboard, on the left hand side, there is an option under “Content” and “Adsense”. If you have multiple sites under one account, you will need to embed an extra code on every page/post you want to track for the Adsense earnings.
But trust me, it’s definitely worth it.
So, back to increasing your Adsense earnings using your tag pages. I’m not going to explain the entire process because I already explained it in my Wordpress tags as Keywords post. But after I implemented this, I simply went to my Analytics under “Content” then “Adsense” and I did a search for “/tag/”. The reason why I did this is the fact that it would show every one of my tag pages and how much earnings I have been getting only from those pages.
Then I just took the total from a few weeks ago when I first started to implement the tags and Adsense and just took the average of it to see what my daily earnings from the tag pages would be. Without giving you an exact number (I think its against Google’s TOS or something), I have increased my Adsense earnings close to 40 percent.
For me, that is a pretty drastic amount coming from one site. Though, remember its only from Adsense and not all the revenue as a whole.
The reason why I’m telling you guys isn’t to show off or rub it in your faces but rather encourage you guys to take action. It doesn’t hurt to take 10-15 minutes out of your day (sometimes more lol) to test things out. I mean, if you read my previous post, I went over it in a step-by-step process so you guys can definitely get it.
Keep in mind that I implemented this because I noticed some of my tag pages were getting ranked quicker and higher than my keyword posts. Also, I’m pretty sure your Wordpress theme may help in this situation. I would suggest using a Wordpress theme that has your post tags displayed right underneath the post. I’m sure that has something to do with your tag pages getting picked up.
Again, I hope you guys have a chance to take action. Most people don’t. Matter of fact, if I did this a long time ago, I’m sure I would have made a lot more money. And since I didn’t take action until recent, I lost out on potential money.

Congratulations for increasing your Adsense earnings by 40 percent – its really a huge leap forward. Presently I’m running Bidvertiser on my blog and I must say that they have very less variety of ads compared to Adsense and as a result I get a very low CTR. I had applied for an Adsense account earlier but was declined as my blog was not 6 months old at that time and was under early stages of development. I’m quiet excited seeing your jump in earnings.Why dont you give a bit more details about your earnings, I think that will not be against the TOS of Adsense.

That feature to see your adsense income on analytics is a new feature. They just added it not too long ago. Another cool feature is the entrance keywords feature. You can see what keywords are driving you traffic.

Another great post Jason, I have been using it a lot ,every tag act as a new keyword post. But I am just wondering if I will encounter a duplicate content problem in Google using Wordpress tags, coz every tags has a same content…

Everything from picture galleries to articles can entice people to visit your website. The better the coding is for each page you have, the better the ads will be, which turns into more money for the time you put into it!

I just discovered the power of linking to tags and categories just under two weeks ago. I’ve always been pretty good at internal linking in the first place, but this is a nice little option that I’m definitely using more now.
