As I continue with my ongoing changes here, I have to lean towards what works and push out the things that haven’t. And for a long time, Entrecard just seems as though it hasn’t been working too much and now I can finally say that it is gone from DatMoney.
One of the things I do a lot of is research and analyzing stats. Those are two key things to focus on so you can see what works and what doesn’t. I usually take what works and dedicate more time around that and eventually come back to what hasn’t worked to see what happened.
Of course, I don’t come back to most things because the things that work would take up all my time. And I’d say to focus on what works because you never know when that is going to just end and cut off completely for whatever reason.
On this particular case with Entrecard, I think I had forgotten about the fact that their widget was left on here (and all my other blogs) and it hasn’t helped me for quite sometime now. But on one of my other blogs that I haven’t really touched for quite sometime, they e-mailed me saying they were going to delete my account because of the inactivity from my blog.
Well, I guess the jokes on them because Entrecard obviously wasn’t helping that blog out to begin with.
Anyways, I was analyzing my stats and I kept seeing a lot more negatives than positives with Entrecard. For the longest time, my bounce rate was ridiculously high (around 90%), the amount of time spent on my site was worthless and slowly but surely the traffic just kept dying.
The only positive thing that really came out of it was the fact that there were a few bloggers I got to network with and I was also exposed to a few new sites that are definitely worth reading. But since I stopped logging into Entrecard all together and I haven’t dropped on anyone’s site all year, the widget and Entrecard simply wasn’t worth it anymore.
I’m not the only blogger that has gotten rid of the Entrecard widget. Matter of fact, I should have gotten rid of it before the year even started but again, I wasn’t really paying attention too much. But again, since it was something that wasn’t helping my site (and maybe dragging it down, slightly), it’s finally time to say goodbye to Entrecard!
Do you guys still use Entrecard or have you gotten rid of it like a lot of other bloggers that I know?

It was entertaining while it lasted, but has been long since dead.
Out of interest, does Langdon still run it or did he sell it?

Your blog title really make me some crazy, Yes I also not so use entrecard, I think I have to spend much time to drop card on other blog, also I do like their strategy of getting traffic like that.

i used entrecard on my blog 6 months ago and i got the same email as you, ‘your account will be deleted because of inactivity on your blog’ . Even i posted daily my blog where i used entrecard and there was like 2K unique visitors daily.
GDI Blog´s last blog ..Top 3 Factors in Getting Backlinks
It’s gone from all my sites, complete time sink. I spent a lot of hours dropping on other people, doing contests, leaving comments. In the end it just wasn’t worth the effort. Very few backlinks wre generated, and traffic was terrible. Extremely high bounce rates seem to be very common.
The exception in Entrecard seems to be bloggers who write to entertain. They seem to get a good following, but I’m not one of those bloggers.
I’ve even given up on BlogCatalog, same thing as Entrecard, no traffic to speak of, and the few who do visit only want to make a comment to get a link.
I’ve written a post I think a couple of months back about the positives of entrecard. But yea you’re right, right now I am on the verge of removing it as well..
@jason he sold it about 5-6 months ago already..
I thought Entrecard was useful but I also make research and make analysis and have found that it has no benefit with my blog. I also got the same message from Entrecard that they will delete my account due to inactivity.
In understanding the strategy of Entrecard, I believe that it will make your bounce rate high because it’s strategy seem spammy to search engines. And so I also did say goodbye.
My widget is gone, but I still use the site to find blogs in different niches…which is basically what I always used it for.

I’ve been kicking around the same thing…not sure what good it does anymore. I wrote about it not long before you did:
http://www.lifeofsyn.com/2009/11/ack-entrecard-ad-just-wrong.html
Just not sure if I should let it go or do something with all those credits first. Probably should use them up in the market (if I can figure out how to do that).
I have not tried using that plugin or what do you call that but from what you said here…I think it’s something that has a negative impact on your blog. I don’t know how this works yet But i’ll try to find out. Thanks for this information about this entrecard. I actually have heard that from before but never gave it a shot on my blog.
Thanks again.
I was one of the early innovators and adopters of entrecard on my personal blog, but yeah I think for the most part entrecard has gone down hill, I haven’t used it in such a long time, and I know of some friends who were early adopters who are also on the same page.
Till then,
Jean
I think its pretty good for such bloggers who gotten rid of the entercard. I too haven’t used it for such a long time as it gone down.
I donot more about this card why this card has been used?
There are so many differing opinions regarding EntreCard. I think I am going to pass on using it for now. Some are saying they are getting some pretty good traffic from it and then others are saying the badge is taking up valuable real-estate and not providing any kind of return.
Thanks for shedding some light on EntreCard for me!
