Most people are spending money during the holidays and if you’re one of them, you should also learn how to make money from the holidays so that way you don’t end up with a big whole in your pocket. There are plenty of ways of doing so but you just have to take advantage of what’s in front of you and actually do something about it.
Around the same time as last, I wrote up a post on “Taking Advantage of the Holidays to Make Money Online” and I’m sure not a lot of people really took advantage. It’s understandable because we’re all busy on the holidays. Look at me, I haven’t posted in almost a week because I’ve been running around doing things.
But if you got some time off from shopping on Black Friday or have a minute to get away from your extended family and all the arguing (thank goodness, right?) then you should take advantage of the hectic sales that are going on online.
Here’s what you can do…
1) Go to Shopping.com - There are a bunch of places where you can go but shopping.com seems to be a good place to find out what people want. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you should see a link for “Top Searches” and its broken down into tons of subcategories. It’ll show you the top 100 searches for each one of those categories which is updated every two weeks.
Again, there are plenty of places to search what people are looking for but just take advantage of what’s in front of you.
2) Pick a Specific Product - The more specific the product you pick, the higher your potential of increasing conversations on sales. In addition, picking a specific brand, model, etc will probably help you rank better for long tail keywords which will help you with search engine traffic.
I can openly admit that I won’t understand search engines and I’m sure I’m not the only one. As of right now, my new posts are not getting indexed in Google for a lot of my sites and I’m now questioning why. But like I said, I won’t understand search engines fully and no one really will, but they can assume things by testing.
See, the thing I won’t understand about search engines are their algorithm and as I was doing my research, it seems as though no one except for Google will know how Google officially works. Let me give you a few examples…
People say duplicate content will get you penalized with Big G. But with testing, it seems as though you will only be penalized if the duplicate content is on the same website. So, if people are copying your content and putting it on their own page and they have a higher pagerank (or something that tells them their site is more important than yours) then their post will probably rank higher than yours.
Speaking of Pagerank, that’s just another topic that is meaningless. Supposedly, Pagerank (which I heard they’re kind of getting rid of, in a way) is used to determine how important a website really is; which is completely false.
As I continue with my ongoing changes here, I have to lean towards what works and push out the things that haven’t. And for a long time, Entrecard just seems as though it hasn’t been working too much and now I can finally say that it is gone from DatMoney.
One of the things I do a lot of is research and analyzing stats. Those are two key things to focus on so you can see what works and what doesn’t. I usually take what works and dedicate more time around that and eventually come back to what hasn’t worked to see what happened.
Of course, I don’t come back to most things because the things that work would take up all my time. And I’d say to focus on what works because you never know when that is going to just end and cut off completely for whatever reason.
On this particular case with Entrecard, I think I had forgotten about the fact that their widget was left on here (and all my other blogs) and it hasn’t helped me for quite sometime now. But on one of my other blogs that I haven’t really touched for quite sometime, they e-mailed me saying they were going to delete my account because of the inactivity from my blog.
So, I’ve had a killer five-letter domain name for the last few years which I used briefly with a friend of mine to start up a site. But shortly after, it went downhill and the site is basically non-existent as we speak. Of course, now that I have a lot more knowledge with online entrepreneurship and making money online, I figured I would reinvest some time into this website.
The five-letter domain name that I have is very catchy and it’s extremely brand-able. I have a few ideas on what I want to do with the site but I’m looking for a few people who would be interested in joining me.
Well, without giving you my entire business plan on the website, I figured I’d just give you a little background on what I’m trying to do and what I’m looking for in people for this joint venture.
Plans for the Killer Five-Letter Domain Website
Because most, if not all, of you guys are already familiar with Wordpress, I figured it’d be easiest if we just stuck with this platform to continue with the develop. Originally, we were using Joomla but I would prefer not to teach everyone it from scratch but rather just stick with what people are familiar with.
I’m looking for a few dedicated people that would be willing to spend a few hours each week working on the website. Nothing too hard but you would need to have some writing skills and at least some knowledge with internet marketing and how things work. Of course, if you are creative then that’s even better.
It seems as though every couple of months I have to write another post on my low tolerance of spam. I have to continue to remind people that no one likes spam and if people keep spamming, there will be some consequences.
Recently, there has been a few spammers that have been commenting here but there is one in particular that I gave plenty of chances but they just continue to spam. This person has been commenting here for quite a while with some regular comments but then I see a lot of generic comments and when I check, they basically copied and pasted a paragraph from someone elses’ work.
It is very easy to tell a spam comment nowadays because most of the comments either have nothing to do with what you just wrote or its so generic that they probably just used the same comment for a bunch of other posts.
Of course, occasionally I’d see the generic type comments and if I’m bored enough, I’ll simply search for that comment. What I do is copy and paste their entire comment into Google and see what pops up. Usually if its a spam comment, the first search result will be exactly the same (or like 99%) and it’ll either be on someone elses’ post in their comment section or it’ll be within that person’s content.
In the particular case I’m talking about, this person went to an article directory (ezarticles, goarticles, etc) and just copied a portion of their article and pasted it as a comment on my blog.
Well, I gave this person a few different chances because I gave them the benefit of doubt. Plus, they did have some legit comments but I think they did it to bypass the whole getting approved in my comments. Unfortunately, they just kept doing what they were doing so I removed them from my top commentators, removed those comments that I found were copied and pasted as well as removed their links within their comments.
Matter of fact, I think that is one of the reasons why I was probably penalized by Google because of spammers. So, take this as a lesson and know that spam can and will actually hurt you. So, just like anything else, make sure you take action… against spam!
