How to Get More Twitter Followers

Remember when I wrote how to get more Twitter followers quickly and I wanted it all to be automated? Well, after a little over a month we’ve had some progress but the only downfall was my lack of commitment to the project. Lol

I’m not a huge fan of Twitter especially the fact that a lot of spammers are on there and everything is virtually automated. That was one of the main reasons why I created that Twitter account for @DatMoneyDotCom. I actually wanted to show you guys how a lot of people just inflate their followers with all these automatic bots and programs. Targeted or not, spammers and automated systems will be just that.

Let’s check on my progression…

Currently, I am following 837 people and I have 349 followers. That may not be saying much but I don’t think I’ve added one single person by myself. In addition, I haven’t promoted it like I should have and if you look at my updates, I have only updated it seven times… with the last update coming more than two weeks ago.

Obviously, there has been a lack of commitment to this project on my end, yet, I’m still following people and getting followers for doing absolutely nothing at all. Just imagine if I actually put some effort and work on my end, I could probably have thousands of followers by now.

Matter of fact, I know some people who implemented the same strategy I used and after one month, some even ended up with 2,000-4,000. Though, you’ve been warned. Twitter can track stuff like this, I think, and possibly delete your account if you spam too much.

The only thing I didn’t do was use this tool to unfollow people that are not following me. Again, I wasn’t fully committed to this project so I didn’t bother doing that aspect of it.

Like I said, this was just testing out one of the many methods you can do to get Twitter followers. I wrote a basic description on how to get more Twitter followers but doesn’t include the specific tools used. And honestly, it’s been so long that I can’t even remember what I used exactly. But I’ll post it here (or start a new post) when I have time to retrace my steps and tell you step-by-step on exactly what I did and which sites/tools I used.

I created a second account and did an experiment myself and got about 2,000 followers. I unfollowed people too and Twitter did suspend my account. I actually was suspended for a week and I did get it reinstated.

Will be waiting for the post on how u did it then. However sincerly I think twitter is good to promote some type of content while others simply do not interest the tweeple. It also depend the type of followers you collected then.

Interesting words my friend… I’ve never tried to keep as much followers as e.g. 2000 but my account is still popular. And I never was suspended (and that is good I think?)

Twitter has been good to me so far. As far as getting more followers goes, I haven’t done anything special but the numbers have been slowly but surely been going up. Someone left a comment on one of my recent post about all those spammers of Twitter who follow you and then tell you about getting 5000 followers when they only have 10 or 20 or something like that. I have no time for that. I only follow people that have something interesting to offer.

The biggest key that I can see in building your number of followers and your influence on Twitter, is to not give a damned about your number of followers and boosting your influence on Twitter.

Look at Pistachio. She is now one of the true power players in social media, and it’s mainly because of Twitter. Look at how she uses Twitter, as a conversation tool, and promote content that OTHER people have created.

I have yet to hear her ONCE mention how many followers she has. Scoble does it every other day.

Twitter works well when you use it as a spotlight to put the focus on EVERYONE ELSE.

That is how you build influence on Twitter and increase your number of followers.

I don’t like Twitter, I think that it kills the blogging comunity by making it to cheap, to easy, to accesible. I don’t know is it anything wrong, but it bug’s me.

I, however, as much as I love Twitter, am not convinced. A company blog (or a frequently updated website), especially if it’s a web-based company, is an absolute must. I hate it when a web startup doesn’t have a blog where I can check what they’re doing and what they plan to do next.
