I don’t know how many of you guys play poker, particularly with Full Tilt Online Poker but if you do, then there are plenty of ways of making money there. But I’m not here to tell you exactly how to, but rather why I like to play and where I finished in this big tournament I was in over this past weekend.
If anyone wants to join me for a game, I play at Full Tilt Poker and the main reasons why I like to play there is the fact that they have No Limit Cap Game Tables. For those of you that have no idea what that means, well, it’s basically a table where you can bet as much as you want until it hits the “cap”.
For instance, if you sit at a $0.50/$1.00 NL CAP table and you decide to go “all-in” the most you would be putting in is $30.00 max. So, you could sit at a table with $10,000 and go “all-in” and only put in $30.
This is a good and bad thing. For most poker players, they hate any cap games because they feel No Limit should be exactly that – when they sit down at a table with $10,000 and push all in, they’re putting up $10,000. That’s just part of the game.
The good thing is the fact that if the best starting hand (pocket aces) is dealt to you and you go all in and it happens to get cracked by 27 off suit (worst starting hand) then you’ll only lose the $30 and not $10,000.
Okay, well, I’ll stop boring you with that. Let’s bore you with my tournament results.
I actually wanted to get into a tournament that was $750,000 guaranteed with first place taking a little over $132k but last week I lost and didn’t finish in payouts so I took a break from that.
The one I played this past week was $200,000 guaranteed with first place taking in $32K. Unfortunately, I didn’t come in first place. Matter of fact, I didn’t come in second or third either… shoot, I didn’t even finish in the final table!
The tournament started with 9,773 total players which was crazy as hell. I actually played a satellite tournament with a buyin of $2 and finished first to get into this tournament. And when I played, I had some luck on some hands but for the most part, I played pretty tight. I just wanted to finish in payouts and once I did, I just was trying to move up on each payout range. And this is where I ended up…
I actually just finished short of the final table and eight hours later… I placed 14th overall. But I did better than I expected and finishing 14th out of 9,773 is pretty damn good. Unfortunately, I didn’t end up with $32k but only $1,200. That’s not too bad taking $2 and turning it into $1,200, huh?
It’s crazy because I spent 8 hours in this tournament but if you think about it, most people wouldn’t even make this in a week at a full-time job. So, my accomplish was pretty good.
Anyways, I just wanted to share a mini-accomplishment that took place online with you guys. And if anyone is interested in playing poker online with me for fun or for money, let me know and I’ll be there! Maybe we’ll teach each other a thing or two!

You play poker? How cool. I love to play poker. I haven’t played much recently, too busy.
That is very good. I’ve only played a couple of tournaments and have finished like 40 out of 1,000.

That being said I have been playing online poker for years and specifically at party poker and absolute poker. Party poker who was the largest online room has left the US market which drastically reduced the numbers playing there.
Nice cash position. $1,200 is a pretty sweet win. The highest I won so far was $11 in a sit-n-go. I try to stay at the low levels until I get better.
I will see you at the tables. I play at full tilt as well.

14th out of 9,773 is definitely something to be very proud of. I love poker but I am not very good at it, so I would have been lucky not to have come in dead last. Congrats!

Deneil – Just let me know when you start playing again and we’re play. I was considering starting a big private tourney with a lot of online entrepreneurs that play poker and see how that goes. But I haven’t gotten a chance to look into setting it up.
Ola – Gambling in general isn’t a lot of peoples strong side but I look at poker like affiliate marketing: you win some, you lose some. But if you’re good at what you’re doing, you should be on the positive end of the money.
Jay
Jay that would be fun. To set it up, just log into your affiliate account at full tilt, click on “create your own tournament” then fill out the form. It should be ready within 24 to 48 hours.

I’ve never played poker online before, but I’m a bit curious and would like to try it out. But there seems to be at least a million different online sites I can play, and I’m a bit confiused.

So what is the future of online poker? Hard to tell, but I will venture a guess. Most likely there will be tougher anti-online gambling laws enacted in the states at some point resulting in a further consolidation of the industry. Perhaps two or three of the largest rooms will still operate there, providing creative banking alternatives as they do now. Expect fewer poker rooms, not more. However the ones that remain will own the industry. And somebody will finally get smart and operate a poker room that encourages the use of outside software, even building your own poker bot.
I love playing poker with the my friends. Sometimes I will play it online as well. I have never played at full tilt but it seems pretty legit. Wow though, you did a pretty amazing job there, placing 14 out of 9,773. That is just ridiculous. Not bad at all 1,188 in total profit haha.
