Now this isn’t a guarantee but I figured I’d just write a post on it because of the chance and initiative I took. And by taking this chance and initiative, I may get $500 for 10 minute of my time.
I’m sure you guys are wondering how in the hell I may possibly get $500 for 10 minutes of my time. Well, honestly, it wasn’t hard. But then again, I’m not even guaranteed it.
Last night I received an e-mail from my contact form titled “$500″ on the subject line. Naturally, I thought it was going to spam until I saw who was e-mailing it to me. It was Tyler Cruz of tylercruz.com whom is a pretty cool entrepreneur and successful one at that.
He was basically informing me of his weight loss competition and the status of it.
So, what does that have to do with me getting $500?
Well, do you guys remember when I wrote that post titled “Working as an Online Entrepreneur = Weight Gain?” That post was written to also enter in the competition/contest to win $500. And just by taking 10 minutes to write that quick post, I have the opportunity to win some cash.
But the best news was the fact that my chances of getting that $500 increased drastically. I also found out by reading Tyler’s lastest weight lose update that I’m the only person who actually took the initiative to vote against his opponent, Jonathan Volk.
It was quite surprising too because only two total people voted for this competition (one for Tyler and one for Jonathan). So, in essence, if Jonathan doesn’t lose 6.5 pounds within the next 30 days, I’m going to be $500 richer than I was.
I know what most of you guys are thinking, this is all based on luck. But the purpose of this post isn’t about hoping to win or luck, it’s more about taking action, taking chances with your online projects and if you have nothing to lose (besides some time) and everything to gain, you should jump on that opportunity when it arises.
Honestly, I wasn’t even going to enter the contest because I was being lazy and I didn’t think I would win. But I just decided to take a shot at it because I wanted to cover the topic on weight gain and living as an online entrepreneur and of course, the chance to win $500.
I hope this is a lesson for all of you guys, if you see a great opportunity, take a chance but more importantly, take action! Because who knows, you may end up with better rewards than just $500!

Jay,
I must agree with you on the taking action part. You know how sometimes people have those Twitter contests? John Chow does it all the time. Well, I entered on and one a flip HD mino!!
All it took was for me to copy and paste a line into a tweet and subscribe to his blog and I won. That took me like 30 seconds to complete and I won something worth $200.
So you are very right. I also had a similar experience to yours where I won by default. I entered a vlog contest over at StandOutBlogger and was the only entry so I won lol.

Yes, it is a matter of taking action, but also, and in your case we can see that, it is a matter of paying attention.
YOu paid attention to the detail “TylerCruz” that made you take a better look, and now you are here with the possibility to make $500 for a ten minute job

I’d say you have pretty good odds of winning! Glad you decided to write the post after all. There are so many opportunities, especially with all the contests and promotions available these days, to win big by putting in 10 minutes or less worth of effort. It’s that same motivation that makes you $500 in 10 min. as an affiliate!
I think you’re right.. going for something, instead of sitting back and wishing you had. I really hope you win the $500 – that would be a nice dinner out!
I usually take part in these kind of contest but have not any win still now. Is there any kind of spacial method of it? Can any one tells about it.
I like this post, and you’re absolutely right in saying sometimes you just have to take the initiative.
Many years ago, at a consultant’s meeting, our speaker made an offer to the entire group for specific business review training if they’d just complete a short form. Turned out I was the only person in the group to take him up on the opportunity. And because of that, he gave me extended time, which I really needed back then.
Good stuff; thanks for the post.
