It looks like yet another Google Pagerank took place so I’m sure you guys will see a million posts similar to this one. Well, not exactly. I usually talk about how useless and pointless it is but this time I’m going to go over my little experiment that I did since the last update.
If you have been a long time reader, visitor, subscriber or whatever, you would know this blog went from PR0 to PR4 to PR3 to PR2 and now after the latest update, it’s still PR2.
Last time the Google Pagerank update came out, I decided that I would change a few things that included adding tons of “no-follow” attributes throughout my site. If you have the Firefox SEO plugin installed, you should see a lot of red highlighted links throughout my site.
Now a lot of people feel as though adding the “nofollow” attribute is extremely important but honestly, it’s not as much as it seems. Not only did it not change anything with my pagerank but it still counts as a link.
Let me explain a little bit on “it still counts as a link.” If you do a lot of blog commenting, you should know a lot of people have the “nofollow” attribute so people think you aren’t getting any backlink juices.
Well, you are wrong if you think that!
See, no one really knows how it works but my theory is the fact that you’ll still get backlink juices to help you with SEO but it just probably won’t be as good as if it was “dofollow.” Say you comment on a page that is a PR7 and it’s a “nofollow” link, I think you would get more backlink juice than a PR3 “dofollow”.
See what I mean?
So, in essence, I wasted my time inserting all the “nofollow” attribute on this site as it didn’t change a damn thing.
Some of my other sites went down, some remained the same but its funny some of my sites end up with PR3 and it barely has any links or traffic at that. I’ll give you a clue, “Commenting on Contest Posts Should Benefit You More Than You Know” and it has got to be true.
Anyways, my conclusion is Google Pagerank is still worthless but now the “nofollow” attribute is pretty much completely worthless as well.
I’ll ask anyways: how did you guys fair with the latest Google Pagerank update?

Ah, Google does it again! Just when you think you’re beginning to get a handle on it…
Maybe sacrificing a chicken at midnight would do the trick? Then, of course, there’d be huge debate about whether to use Rhode Island Reds or Jersey Giants and if you should use a knife or an axe. Hey, a whole new SEO industry – Search Engine Voodoo!
I lost PR on the blog I had PR on (www.cowgirl-up.net). Oh well…maybe next time.

well, google has done more use less ness in the past year, so lets see how stupid it becomes.
Something tells me that you may not even need to care for pagerank in the future.

I don’t care about PR. As long as I have traffic, I am happy.

Many people are suggesting that google is currently updating the page rank of each site, this is what can be seen on the google toolbar and is basically a rating out of ten for each website. From reading some of the messages on the search engine forums, different people are reporting changes where as other people as of yet have seen no changes
I got 1PR but why i had done hardwork for my blog.
pagerank worthless? I don’t think CNN.com would agree to that. Type in “money” on Google and CNN shows up.

I wouldn’t say PR is not important. I mean, if you were going to trade links or buy a domain, who would you do it with/which would you buy? The PR3 or PR0?
Only one of my 7 websites had any change in PR, and that’s only because I started that blog in December, so one figures something had to occur. Course, I’m one of those folks who only cares about it because it shows in the toolbar; otherwise, I really don’t check all that often, except when I’m doing some testing.

Luckily, I received a pr2, I think I’m doing a little better, I guess. PR don’ really matter that much to me though
I don’t think that Google consider no-follow links in PR and i never feel that no-follow link from PR7 domain has more value then PR3 domain do-follow .if it no-follow it has no value for search engines .But yes no-follow has its disadvantages too . For eg:- wikipedia uses no-follow to link to other websites although they link only to authority websites then also those websites can’t enjoy any link juice from wikipedia directly
And Toolbar Pr not depends only on links also on various factors
Gees – lots of different opinions there – I think, if people want guaranteed backlinks, then they should just stick to the “dofollow” sites so as not to waste their efforts!
agree. As long as i have traffic, i’m not really care about others thing..
i got PR 2.hey thanks to sharing it…
This is an interesting theory.
I ultimately think pagerank is pointless.
You should be trying to build links anyway. If pagerank comes with that, then good.
I think the In PR Google Count Only Do Follow Links. I got some Quality Back link. Then I got the 3 PR.
