I don’t want to say I’m mad or pissed but I’m a little annoyed and frustrated. Why? Well, there are a few reasons and they all involve relying on someone else in one way or another.
Remember when I wrote “Why you should not rely on one source of income”, in these particular aspects, it’s almost like the same exact thing.
Do Not Put All Your Eggs in One Basket When It Comes To Revenue
In my first instance, I was partnered up with this site and essentially this site was loved by Google and other search engines because it had tons and tons of backlinks. So, essentially, if I were to blog about something popular (because I found a great way with my keyword research), my posts would show up on the frontpage for that keyword 90 percent of the time. And the agreement was the fact that I could display my own Adsense ads on the top and bottom of the post while they kept their ads on the sidebar.
Fair enough, right?
Yeah, I would say so. They were benefiting from getting the traffic, revenue and someone to constantly post for them.
So, I was making some great money from this partnership simply from Adsense and I was only posting like 5 times a week, usually all in one day. All of a sudden, I saw my Adsense take a huge hit and questioned what happened.
Of course, they screwed up the site and now none of the Adsense ads show up throughout the entire site! And they do not know how to fix it. To make matters feel like a slap in the face, they tried to offer $5/post to compensate us.
Um, $5/post? I was making like 10-20 times that daily and I was only posting once a day with a total of 5-10 posts. Now, I could post 10 times and get paid $50 but now I’m also doing like two, three and maybe four times more work just to keep up with what I was making from Adsense.
I relied on this partnership for a good chunk of revenue and just with a snap of the fingers, it’s just about all done. Luckily, that wasn’t my only source of income or else I’d be screwed.
Backup All Your Stuff And Don’t Rely On Hosting
In my second instance, it’s a little lighter but again, annoying. I just went to my banner designs to find a bunch of broken images that aren’t showing up. And of course, the reason is because most of those images weren’t hosted on my own server, they were actually with Google’s Blogger because I used to have a Blogger blog.
Of course, I never thought they would delete my hosted images but guess what? Looks like they did!
On top of that, if you guys knew about Google Pages, that was a great place to host your images, build certain things for pages, etc. But as you can see, they are no longer accepting new sign-ups.
I was once told they would be a reliable source to backup some files and images but now I’m second guessing that.
At least I still have an account and can log in!
Anyways, it’s hard to rely on someone especially if it’s someone you don’t really know. And even if you know the person, you should never rely on them 100 percent because you’ll find yourself screwed if anything happens.
Learn from my experiences and learn from your own. Don’t get screwed like me in the long run by relying on someone else.

I know exactly what you mean. People are usually looking out for themselves so when I’m looking for someone to work with I try to make sure that their interests align with mine. If they want something different from me then they will surely screw me over at some point to get it. Also never employ family!
What will you do about the adsense site?

Dennis – In my example, the site didn’t belong to me but it’s still up and running. I’m just not going to use my popular keywords at $5/post because I don’t think it’s worth it. I’m trying to build up my other blogs to be better than theirs, I just need to plot out my scheme on how to get thousands and thousands of backlinks.

Just so long as it’ not all in the same week. LOL

Sounds like a rough go of it. I learned long ago to depend on no one.

Very true, I have always been told to make the back-links look very natural. Sometimes you may have to age your blog, like a fine Bordeaux, over time
yeah i know what you mean they have screwed me over many times as well, hosting, adsense, and everything else.

Damn it man! Its always better to depend on oneself… we dnt know when the other support get down and we have to be down coz of them.
Yep, you should always be prepared for situations like this. Making sure everything is backed up is also crucially important and it’s easy to automate most backups these days so there really is no excuse not to.

Might as well just have your own server at home that you can control
A lot of big website owners are starting to do this to be safe.

yes..that is really very truthful. having backups is really very important thus we should all know that. Having back ups should always be on our top list.
