Do you have to be a future teller? Definitely not. So, how does one actually predict the future to make some good money? Easy, just pay attention to your surroundings.
Now I’m not asking you guys to go out of the way and try to find things you want to predict like fake lottery numbers but just look over your interests, your hobbies, your daily routine, etc. Now take all of those and predict some possible outcomes and blog about it.
I’m sure I’ve lost just about all of you guys with that last paragraph so I’m going to give you examples of what I’m talking about.
Finding What to Predict
One of my interests/hobbies is sports and gambling, I love talking about it, playing it, watching it, etc. So, how in the hell do I predict the future with these? Well, I combine the two to find something worth trying to predict – sports picks.
I’m a huge NFL football fan and since it’s the playoffs right now, this is a good time to take advantage of it and predict the possible outcomes of it. Is it worth it? Well, let’s check the stats.
Below are screenshots of Google Trends with the keywords “NFL playoff predictions” and “NFL playoff picks”.
As you can see, it looks like every single year around this time people are searching like crazy for those keywords (you can see the huge jump on the graph). People are searching to see what experts have to say about the predictions, and more importantly for some, their picks.
People bet on these games so they have to do their research on predictions and picks so they have the advantage, so in return, we’re going to try to take advantage of their need. See, I just combined sports and gambling with predicting the future.
So, now that I have my keywords, I actually have to take initiative to blog about it and possibly build some links around it.
Blog About Your Prediction and Build Links to Get Traffic
When blogging about it, make sure you put the keywords within the title and I would suggest putting it within the first sentence of your blog post as well. Also, it doesn’t hurt to bold the keywords too because supposedly it helps with SEO.
In my example with the NFL picks, make sure you actually predict who you think will win in the post because they are there for a reason – for your picks.
Even if you have no idea about football, see what other experts are saying and pick what they pick. It doesn’t really matter, just have some useful things.
The thing that separates you from the “experts” are who ranks higher in search engines. Now, the NFL predictions example isn’t the best to be competing with (even with low competition) unless you have tons of backlinks to your site and rank high in search engines normally. The reason, you’ll be competing with Yahoo Sports, ESPN and all these big name sports sites.
There is a slight way around it, though, it doesn’t work all the time. Matter of fact, it doesn’t even require your site to actually be ranked high for that keyword.
As you guys should know, social bookmarking and voting sites such as Digg, for example, rank high in search engines as it is. So, if you submit to those sites and the Digg page ranks high in search engines, the organic traffic goes to that page then onto your page. And it doesn’t even matter if they get voted on or not, you just want it to rank in search engines.
Monetize Your Site/Post to Earn Revenue
Personally, I use PPC ads such as Google Adsense because most people trying to read your predictions are there quick and they move on. You want to entice those people to move right onto your lovely links on your PPC ads.
Conclusion
I know I made it sound simple and that’s not always the case, I understand. But it does work if you get it going right. I’m sure a lot of you guys aren’t sports fan so predicting the future may be out the question but you shouldn’t stop.
For instance, American Idol just started back up so try predicting the top finalists now (or soon). The Golden Globes were a couple days ago and if you knew about it and chose the winners before they were picked, you could have possibly got a spike in traffic and revenue.
It doesn’t end there but you just have to be creative. Think about something you may want to know the outcome for, more than likely other people are thinking the same exact thing. If you think you would search for something, I bet hundreds and thousands of people are doing the same exact thing.
Give it a try. Predict the future and they will come… well, most of the times at least.

I have already seen a number of comments on my site from people who have put up websites for certain Idol contestants. If they happen to pick the winner they could do well!

Ok no it’s fine, you’re totally right Jay. If we look there are tons of things. Anybody want to start posting about Obama’s inauguration? Whether you like the guy or not, the traffic is going to Shoot up! in a couple days as we get closer.

It is important to be able to predict and also have a vision of the direction that you can see your life going. A lot of people just live day to day without knowing what they are trying to accomplish throughout the day

I too have read this but in many test, I have yet to see any ranking benefits from bolding text for emphasis.
At first I thought you really like to bet on NFL games.. Surely, you have covered some betting, gambling, NFL and other main keywords in this post. Agree with you on adsense. Although, I’m not earning that much from it at least something right?

You might have heard about the Best Job in the World set out by Tourism Queensland? Well, I blogged about it and am hoping for some traffic to come along
And sorry if I didn’t really contribute to your post… the picture of that cheerleader blinded all the surrounding words. Hahah~!

Peter – Yes, every year when American Idol comes out, you’ll probably see a spike in traffic. Hopefully you’re making some good money as well!
Jonathan – LOL! I’m here to help and I’m not really exposing anything either, there are soooooo many predictions we can all make. Plus, I bet a majority of people won’t even try this out anyways.
Donny – Um, I was talking more about taking advantage of stuff by predicting but you’re right too, I guess? lol
Sherry – Affiliate marketer isn’t the only way of making money. I know a bunch of online entrepreneurs that have never dipped into AM and they make thousands, if not, tens of thousands each month. Just hang in there, learn but more importantly, take action!
Affordable – That may or may not be a myth but that isn’t the thing to rely on with SEO. The most important part probably has to be building links.
Atniz – Nah, I was just giving a detailed example on how to go about taking advantage of the predictions and future with an everyday thing for me. But how much have you been earning with Adsense?
Asher – LOL! I was going to apply for that best job in the world too. But I considered writing about it the other day but didn’t. Let me know how your traffic and stuff goes with that.
Oh, and the cheerleader is hot but mainly there to backup my NFL example. I’ll try to put some a little less hot…
Jay
It’s amazing though how I don’t think of these things. I have a domain that would go PERFECT with a football.
You make an awesome point though, some times all you gotta do is stop and look around at whats happening/gonna happen and jump on it.
Great post dude
