First of all, I hope everyone had a nice Christmas, enjoyed the holidays and received some amazing presents.
When it comes to site flipping, any site can be flipped just as long as you have a buyer. But how much is your site really worth? What are they basing it on? Are they paying way too much?
If you read this blog, more than likely you read Theuniversitykid.com as well as Slyvisions.com. And I’m sure you know both of them are selling their blogs. Matter of fact, Sly already did. He sold it for a $9,500 while Jason a.k.a. TUK can’t seem to get serious bids over $5,000.
If you ask me, TUK should have been sold for, at the very least, the same amount as Sly did, if not more. The reason why I say this is simply the fact that when it comes down to it, TUK had better overall stats than Sly so that would be the logical reasoning why he should have sold it more, right?
Wrong!
When it comes down to it, the buyer will look at the stats, how much revenue you make from the site, but it’s all about their preference on what they want to spend their money on.
So, if you don’t think your site is worth selling, you may just be underestimating yourself. See, no what you think, any site can be sold, all you need is one buyer.
Remember when our site flipping group sold ListLunatic? A lot of you guys didn’t even think it would sell for a couple hundred dollars. Matter of fact, I think there were only like three guesses around what it actually sold for – $2,000.
We didn’t really make any revenue from the site either but we still managed to sell it for a pretty good chunk of change simply because we found a buyer and we had some great selling points.
Now, if you barely get any traffic or barely make any money from your site, I believe there is a buyer out there especially for you… you just need to know where to look and know how to become a good salesman with great selling points.
So, never EVER underestimate yourself! You’ll surprise everyone, including yourself.
Side note: Yes, I have received everybody’s e-mail regarding the site flipping team(s), just haven’t had a chance to full fix my e-mails because I have been out-of-town… and I’m still not home from the holidays yet.

I think the value of a site is based a large amount on how much the person buying it can make the transition with the readers and also turn a profit through monetization. If the template of the blog is not set up to monetize to make that much money, then I feel that the blog will sell for a little less than you want it to.

It’s like Jason said on TUK, it 90/10 – Skill/Luck . You could have an amazing site, but if you miss all the buyers which are interest in it, your out of luck.

I think the value of a blog pretty much depends a lot on the revenue per month isn’t it? I am not saying site stats is not important but for me earnings is the most important factor in determining whether I will buy a site or not.

I think your 100% right. I have seen site and domains be sold for two times what their really worth.
If some one really likes a site they will be willing to spend more on it even if the other site is ‘Technically’ better.

If a guy comes up to you and wants to buy your car wearing a Tuxedo and drives a Lamborghini your asking price would definitely be higher compared to the same guy walking up in rags.
Great points made about pricing in this blog post. I enjoyed reading it.

Stats do play a vital role in the final decision, but it all comes down to the buyer’s own preference.

The old adage of “It’s only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay” rings true even with blogs. The thing about the internet is there is someone out there for every website it’s just a matter of finding them.

When it comes to site flipping, it’s pretty much like a chance game. Who knows what it’ll sell it for, but if it doesn’t, just keep it and work on it.

Valuing a site is mainly depends on how much buyers are intended to buy your site. I think this would be the main cause to decide the price for selling a site.
I’ve been watching the TUK sale and i don’t know if i’m missing some details or what, but i don’t get why that blog has not yet been sold.
The back end and the front end is there. It has a nice design, and even if it didn’t, that can always easily be fixed.
I do know he made a good chunk of the revenue based on a recent eBook, but he also makes money on the blog in other ways and has a decent RSS base.
I read somewhere the guy who bought SlyVisions.com, bought it for the backlinks. He said so himself, the new owner. Would i pay $10,000 for 18,000 backlinks? No, i would not.
If anyone is reading this and is also looking to buy a blog based on its sheer volume of of backlinks, hit me up, as my G34 Media has like 50,000.
I hope TUK finds his buyer, it’s a cool blog.
Great article, I know a guy name Ed Dale who had soled 40 some odd websites for 4 or 5 million $ cash!!
Now these sites were money maker, like ecommerce sites.

Good topic, site flipping. I have read about it on other sites also and there are many varied opinions about the best time to flip. Some say a week after building, some say the same day, some don’t favor selling until you have established links and content on. Naturally the last option would make you more money, but maybe you want money quicker than that. It is one of those questions that everyone has to solve for themselves, depending on why you wish to sell. At least that is my take on the matter.
