If you’re one of those people that despise celebrities, well, I’m not asking you to like them. But building a celebrity website is definitely worth it if you’re looking to make some extra money on the side. Plus, it doesn’t take too long to build one and more than likely you won’t have to do any maintenance to it.

If you’re wondering why you should build one, well, it can work wonders if you’re doing it right. I have a few celebrity websites in which I did a one-time setup and I haven’t touched it since. As of right now, I’m making, on average, a couple dollars a day for each website and like I said, I haven’t touched them since I first set it up.

Now, you’re probably thinking “a couple dollars a day? That’s nothing! Give me a break man!” That may be true but if you learn to rinse and repeat the process then those couple of dollars a day could turn into $10/day… then $20/day… $100/day… and who knows, maybe thousands?

And did I mention you don’t have to touch the site ever again and you will get a check once a month?

On top of that, I heard celebrity sites are pretty good to convert affiliate campaigns, particularly the zip and e-mail submit ones. Hey, I’m not the one to judge but I heard that people who go to those types of websites are generally the same ones that think they can magically win a new iPod or TV by entering in their e-mail address.

Okay, so hopefully I have your attention enough to this point. Now let me tell you how to go about building a celebrity website.

Pick Out Your Featured Celebrity – Think of each celebrity as its own niche, its own site. You can pick any celebrity you want, just as long as they’re popular enough to be searched for. (And even if they’re a D-list celeb, there are tons of people still searching for them)

If you want to check if they’re actually being searched for, try going to Google Trends and simply typing in their name. If a graph appears, you have some people searching for them.

Find The Keywords Around Your Celebrity – Your celebrity’s name is good for a keyword but more than likely it’s highly competitive with thousands/millions of other websites. You want to focus more on the long-tail keywords instead. Try simply entering in their name in the SEO Book Keyword Tool and you’ll end up with tons of long-tail keywords.

The more keywords you can add to your celebrity site, the more your chances increase for search engine traffic. And the more search engine traffic you get, the more you increase your earning potential.

Jessica Alba is Beautiful

Pick a Domain Name – Now you should pick a domain name somewhat similar to the celebrity’s name, yet, somewhat catchy. It doesn’t have to be the greatest but it should at least let the readers know “hey, I guess this is a site based on Jessica Alba.” And if you find a good long-tail keyword, why not use that as the domain?

Build the Site/Landing Page - Remember the other day when I talked about using Wordpress as a landing page? It’s the same thing as setting up a celebrity website, especially if you are going to use it for affiliate campaigns.

You guys should read the “How to Use Wordpress as a Landing Page” so I don’t have to explain the entire thing again.

But specifically for celebrity sites, you want to include these basics:

- Biography page
- News page
- Gallery

If you’re doing the site to run affiliate campaigns, more than likely you don’t want too many pages because you want them to click on your affiliate link so you get paid.

And if you’re doing it to get paid from Adsense, then the more pages could actually help you.

Add Pictures, Add Pictures and Add Pictures – Everyone wants to see pictures of their favorite celebrities so why not give it to them? You should have at least a few images of them to appeal to your visitor’s eye. It grabs their attention, not to mention it can bring in some great traffic from Google Image’s and other traffic sources.

Just make sure you add the alt tags to every picture with a keyword.

Putting Your Ads or Affiliate Campaigns Up – Make sure you place your ads on every page/post and make sure you have at least one above the fold. Those are the ones that get clicked on the most.

Build Traffic and Links – Now that your site is basically set, you need to get traffic to it, right? Personally, I like to work with organic traffic which would require you to build links for your site. I wrote an entire post on “Different Ways to Build Backlinks For Your Site” so you can check it out.

Also, you want to make sure you submit these sites to social sites like StumbeUpon because there are a lot of people who love celeb websites.

If you’re making the site as a landing page for affiliate campaigns, you could possibly do PPC advertising and spend $0.05 – $0.20 a click. As long as your campaigns are converting, you should make a pretty decent net profit.

I think that’s the basic celebrity website and how to build one. There are quite a few ways you can approach this for making money such as running affiliate campaigns, running PPC ads or you can even flip the site for a decent amount in a very short time if you’re looking for some quick cash.

If you’re looking to flip the site, all you have to do is prove the site is making money, prove that the site is getting traffic and emphasize the fact that they do NOT have to do much to maintain the site.

Easy money right here! Oh, and before I forget, you may need to do the occasional maintenance to the site but personally, I don’t and it still works fine for me.

I hope you guys give it a try and as always, let me know if you have any questions!

What I’ve been seeing a lot lately are those websites to sell “tickets” of some sort. It seems like they’re gaining a good amount of SEO lately.

Blogoholic – You could always just create an iPod site. :D

Ben – I usually put a disclaimer that it’s strictly a fansite and all copyrights below to the rightful owners. I think that should be fine… either that or you can credit each photo to the source.

Dennis – Hey, people LOVE celebs so it can’t be that far away from your mind. :P

Titan – It’s nothing new but a lot of people don’t know how to set it up so I figured I’d give them a helping hand.

Mike – Selling tickets, iPods, anything that’s easy to convert, really.

    L. Weng – You should give it a try then. :D

    Goblogging – And it’s not crowded because there’s a new celebrity everyday…

Blogging from Scratch – I’ll think about it… but more than likely it’s going to be a password protected post similar to my Adsense one. Either that or I’m going to write an eBook and give examples in that… but until then, I guess you’ll have to wait. :D

Hugo – No, definitely not. There are plenty of celebs for everyone and with each celebrity comes tons of longtail keywords too. :D

Dennis – LOL! Now I’m not saying to write a celebrity GOSSIP site or anything, that just takes too much time. But I’m just giving options so I can get it into your head for another revenue source. :)

Yan – Thanks man! I’m trying to get more detailed posts on here that will benefit people step by step. Of course, I will reveal EXTRA stuff to my e-mail subscribers and/or in a future eBook.
