Internet Connection Down – Verizon Sucks

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008 | Ramblings with 5 Comments

I’m just making this post now just incase I’m unable to make a post in the next day or two but currently, I have no internet connection at my house. There was an "outage" going on in my area for all Verizon DSL users. And yup, they officially were added to my "oh, you suck list."

You’re probably wondering how I’m writing this post as we speak. Well, currently I’m sitting here at a cyber cafe drinking my smoothie and having this delicious chicken breast sandwich special with chipotle sauce while stealing using their wireless internet.

Oh crap! I’m talking about what I just ate on a blog post on my entrepreneur blog, I’m freakin’ John Chow ! Oh NOOO!!!!!

Joking aside. I’m without internet connection because Verizon DSL sucks. I don’t know when it’s been out but I’m pretty sure it was since this morning, then it was supposed to be back up after 4pm.

6:34 PM… still no internet.

Still no internet so I decided to call Verizon and of course, I get a stupid automated messaging system. After bobbing and weaving through all that crap, I finally reach a customer service rep who basically didn’t help me at all.

An hour and a half later…

After he obviously couldn’t help me out, he put me on hold once again and came back with a message "You won’t believe this… we just got a message and the outage is back and it will be like that for the next two hours. But it’s usually longer. If it doesn’t work after 10 PM, try calling us back."

My reply was "Yeah, okay. Suuuurrrreee that’s the reason." My guess was the fact that he couldn’t help me, he didn’t know what to do and he was probably going to get off work in the next 10 minutes so he figured he’d just pass me along to the next sucker who picks up when I call back.

Anyways, this post isn’t going to help anybody but it was more of a rant towards how relying on internet sucks. But more importantly, Verizon sucks because they’re not too reliable and their customer service isn’t too helpful.

Again, I just wanted to let you guys know just incase you don’t see a post in the next couple of days. But don’t worry, I’ll do my best to get posts in, I mean, I wouldn’t mind sitting at this cyber cafe once again and getting that chicken breast sandwich!

Opps. There I go again reminding you guys of John Chow , huh? :P

Update: Supposedly my internet is back up (I received a phone call from them) but I haven’t been home to check it.

There’s nothing wrong with you or John Chow having a healthy appetite. That said, I am having a problem with the Internet at my home, also. It’s such a hassle. Perhaps the good in all of this is that it forces you to get out of the house for a few hours a day. Good luck!

Where are you located? I know any type of services suck, but it’s usually different depending on the area you live in. Even thought all the phone calls lead to the same company, it still could be different.

Hope you get your internet back up!

it is always like this. When we need support we are placed on hold…
i had similar problems, and tried to call support but every time i was on hold for many minutes, and the call wasn’t free…. Or when they answered they always gave some lame excuses, or they manage to fix the problem but a week later there it is again.
I was in a point that i was tired of spending money calling them so i sent a mail saying if they didn’t call me to fix the problem i would terminate the contract…. they called. lol

That’s interesting because the Verizon access card for laptops works great…I haven’t had any issues with it even during Hurricane Ike in which I was dead smack in the middle of!
