Jay – I am not talking about those who copy others’ posts and just rewrite them. I am talking about sharing ideas that might not work for you (because you may not have the necessary resources, time, whatever…), but that might work for someone else. I don’t think that blogging should be just telling what we do.

I guess I find a slight problem with that because that’s exactly what I’m talking about. Another MMO blogger just recycling what they read from someone elses’ site and using as their own, yet, they never used the method themselves so why would anyone listen to them in the first place?

I mean, a majority of MMO bloggers just read John Chow or someone and just write the same thing they read but in their own words.

I will give an example. Recently, Gyutae Park from Winning The Web wrote an article on how he increased his RSS subscriptions overnight. Obviously I was curious to find out. When I read, he actually emailed a base of 500 subscribers in his Aweber newsletter and converted most of them to RSS subscribers as well. Although Gyuate now has 1500+ subscribers, and is, consequently, credible when talking about how to increase RSS, his article doesn't help ME because I don't have a 500-email file. On the other hand, another small blogger could have got the idea and just shared it on his blog. He still would not be able to implement it himslef, but it would have been useful to a blogger like Gyutae who has a 500-email file. I don't know if it makes sense. O. O. Messaoud – I’m just curious, then why would you write titles “how to increase RSS subscribers?” Because as a reader, if I read that I would think the post is just BS because they can’t even implement their own tactics.

And working on experience, if you do write posts like that with no proof to back it up, you’ll just fall into the same category as most of the MMO bloggers.

Though, I do agree with you that the owner should share his experiences, successes and failures; they just shouldn’t preach what they don’t practice.

Lastly, on your “ive anyone $5,000 to promote his blog and he can become an A-List in a month with a minimum of good content” that is not true. I know someone who had a $10,000 budget and hasn’t gone anywhere… extremely far from an A-lister.

Wendy – I do have suggestions on SEO in which I’ll try to cover in upcoming posts.

Derek – We’ll all lose focus once in a while, but sometimes we just need some time away to get back on track.

That is a hard one to keep up with. Although I try to get back on occasion to everyone that left a comment it is difficult.

Somehow we end up getting sidetracked. I even missed a few days of your posts cause I was busy working (offline)

I believe in SEO but with my blog I have a hard time. Guess the reason is simple I talk abouot random topics and what ever strikes my fancy that particular moment.

Any suggestions to improve my SEO??

Focus is a key point to building a strong brand and to master what you’re doing. I just want to comment about something you said Jay. I myslef have 21 subscribers and happen to write : “How to increase RSS subscriptions”. In fact, I think it could be ideas that don’t work for me and could work for someone else. It could be ideas that I am starting to implement and that my readers can start too, and that can be successfull in the long run. My perception is that an MMO blog should be a place where the owner is sharing his experiences, successes and failures. It is not necessarily a blog of someone who is making $50,000 per month and who shows people the divine way of how to do it. Because being a successful money maker on the net doesn’t necessarily mean that you are a great blogger or that you are a mastermind. For example, give anyone $5,000 to promote his blog and he can become an A-List in a month with a minimum of good content.

I agree with you, focus on what you good at. That is the reason why we come back to your blog. That is the label you build up in our mind.
Just like tune in TV channel or movie. You will have some expectation on what you are going to get, but expect something unexpected.
If you keep changing your blog’s subject, you will lost the label already build up.

I follow several MMO’s for different reasons. Some i follow because of product reviews..others i buy because I like to hear what they say. It just depends on how you connect. I’m glad yours is different. If you had the same product reviews..I wouldn’t be able to tell teh difference from the other MMO’s
