Google updated its pagerank and all I have to say is: Google Pagerank is just a number, who cares? I’ve been preaching that for a while because it won’t stop traffic from coming to your site, you’ll still be listed in search engines and if you’re good enough at SEO, then you should have no problem.
For instance, a friend of mine recently got knocked down to a PR0 and you would think it affected his search engine traffic but nope, it didn’t. He still gets thousands of uniques each day.
So, like I said, Google Pagerank is just a number, who cares?
I checked and it looks like a couple of my sites got knocked down from PR4 to PR3 – including DatMoney.com – but a few of my newer blogs got PR2 from PR0. But when it came down to it, none of my search engine traffic got affected by this update either.
What I’m trying to say is, don’t rely on Pagerank so much because it’s not that important. I know a bunch of people who has PR5’s but they barely get search engine traffic. On the other hand, I know people who have no pagerank at all that gets thousands of search engine traffic still… so I guess when it comes down to it, if you know SEO then you’re all set.
And if you don’t, pagerank or no pagerank, it’s not going to help you either way.

You are on the money!
If you go around the blogosphere today theirs TOO MANY peaple either winging or excited that their pagerank changed… peaple should stop worying, i never check my PR, ive deleted the toolbar and everything.
Pagerank is too overrated.
Those who are worrying much about Pagerank are those who does p@id reviews. My blog is just a month old so I don’t think it deserves a Pagerank. That’s okay, because I still get traffic even though I have PR0.

On the other hand….I saw the signs before my pagerank got lowered from PR1 to N/A. For the past 25-30 days, I think have had 10 visits to my blog. Before that, there were about 25-30 visists per day…mostly from Google searches. Not sure what changed besides the fact that I slacked off on posting. Keyword searching on my blog is basically invisible.

This is the most lucid post I’ve read on the Google page rank dance. As easy as it is to decide to focus on optimizing for google alone, it’s a losing strategy. Depending on a single source for traffic, then assuming that source will not the change the way it operates, is crazy.
The best way to ensure search engine performance, imo, is still to write “search engine aware” (i.e. white hat optimized) quality content.

Yea sometimes I don’t get how the PR gets dropped in some cases. One of my link partners was a PR6 with tons of backlinks and after the last update, is now a PR0.
There are tons of PR1-2 sites that get huge amounts of traffic, and there are PR3 sites that get less than 10 visitors per day. I would prefer the traffic and the disrespect of google as opposed to the other way around.
Thats funny, i’ve seen the exact opposite. Immediately after i went from PR0 - 3 my searches went up about 400%. And its been there this whole week.
I’ve been trying to debunk it, but its covering all articles, even the older ones.
What it did do was to improve my performance on the Short tail searches, the long tail ones were always pretty good.

My company site have changed from PR1 to PR2 but my blog still sitting at PR0. However, I feel that my blog have more traffic than my company site. I don’t really know how the PR things work. Anyway, I don’t care!
This PR update was old and moldy! From what I hear it was from June 15th, which made it about 5 weeks old.
In the end, its all about traffic. That green bar is not a traffic gauge, so it is good to just keep doing what works - providing quality content and reaching out to targeted traffic.
