This is to be expected when it comes to holding contests, once the contest is done and over with, people will unsubscribe to your RSS Feeds. Though, I didn’t expect people to get rid of all the evidence that they were part of the contest. Don’t believe me, well, try holding a contest yourself!

Like I mentioned, I understand people will unsubscribe to my RSS Feeds because who wants to get e-mail updates from me if they will never read it.  But honestly, they shouldn’t have entered the contest that way to begin with, but some people go the entire distance to get rid of the evidence of them participating in a blog contest.

For instance, I made it pretty simple to enter the contest with various ways of gaining entries. You could subscribe to my RSS Feeds by e-mail, blog about the contest, comment on my blog, vote and or sign up for sites for free. I mean, Mike at Bloggin-ads.com won an ad spot on jonathonvolk.com and his entries were mainly from commenting on my blog posts (which he does even if there were no contest). Matter of fact, I think he was more surprised that he won because he couldn’t even remember entering.

See? That’s a perfect example of why you should comment on blogs, but more importantly, people should seek easier options to enter contests rather than subscribing and unsubscribing.

And the unsubscribing wasn’t even the worst part, especially since we all know that’s bound to happen, but people even decided to take it a step further and delete their blog post entry! Now, that’s just shameless if you ask me.

Now, I hope you guys understand why I made the contestants have the responsibility of claiming their prizes rather me contacting them. I don’t want people who stop by once and never come back and happen to win. And although, that may happen, if they don’t claim their prizes, their prizes will be given to the next random pick.

And yes, the unclaimed prizes will be up for grabs in a random drawing that I will try to do in the next couple of days. So, look out for that!

Before I forget, it looks like another contest will be up and running pretty soon. A new sponsor just contacted me… and I know how many of you guys just hate winning things… cash, bundle packages, you must love that stuff, right?

Isn’t that usually the way it goes. In it just for the winning or losing.

Don’t they know that you write a great blog and should stick around.

Can’t wait to see what you can throw into the mix.

Keep up the great work my friend

Well you see, it’s just the way it is. I, too, unsubscribe from some blogs as soon as their contests are over, because their niche doesn’t interest me. To be fair though, I usually try to stick around for a few posts to see if it’s anything I like before deciding to leave or not.

Looking forward to the next contest!

Carl - LOL! I’ll be doing random picks for the unclaimed prizes.

Wendy - I think you have to be one of my best readers. So, I want to personally thank you and let you know I appreciate it. If you ever need help, well, you have my e-mail!

Mary - At least you stick around to give them a chance before unsubscribing. I’ve unsubscribed before but then again, I don’t subscribe simply for contests… I mean, what’s the point? There are other ways of “winning prizes”, try playing the lottery lol

Seriously though, I think this is the reason why TONS of people hate contests because it’s like artificial traffic and that people need to focus on content. I feel my content is pretty good and thats why I occasionally hold contests to draw them in… I just hope they give my content a chance before deciding NEVER to come back.

Seriously, I can understand why people unsubscribe after the contest but it’s hard for me to comprehend the reason behind deleting the post. I guess it’s just not the right thing to do.

Hey Jay, FYI I’m still your loyal subscribers who won nothing, as always….

I still get your feed :P

I cannot understand anyone deleting a post - well, except once, I had post that caused so much grief on my personal blog that I deleted it.

Besides that, I just don’t get it.

Rome - Yes, your comments from the past counts as entries. I’ll try to do the drawing tomorrow or something.

Blog for Beginners - Yeah, unsubscribing is one thing but deleting a post, come on! But hey, technically everyone won a free eBook and you can also get a phone card. Just e-mail me… As for the unclaimed prizes, you’re still eligible for those.

Rockstar Sid - If you KNOW ALL will unsubscribe, why hold a contest? I’m just curious?

Barry - Appreciate it man… plus, didn’t you win a couple of prizes anyways? :P But in your case for deleting a post is reasonable… for a contest entry, I just don’t get it.

Gadget - It happens, eh? lol

As an expert of having blog contests, I can definitely say that a lot of participants unsubscribe to a blog right after the contest :P
