If You’re Making Lots of Money Online, Should You Care About Your MMO Blog?

Thursday, June 5th, 2008 | Blogging - MISC, Blogging Tips, Make Money Online with 10 Comments

eva-mendesI’ve read a few people who mentioned this before, if you’re making money online, do you really need a MMO blog to discuss it? Well, my answer is yes… but only if you’re actually making money online, willing to share some tips, and the fact that you need to set your priorities if you are going to discuss it on your blog.

I know a lot of you guys care so deeply for your readers, and so do I, but if a lot of your readers are going to your blog for making money online tips and you don’t make any (or enough) money then it sort of defeats the purpose. Plus, in a way, you lose credibility.

So, during the past couple months I haven’t been posting as much as I was earlier in the year. It’s not that I don’t want to – because I’m willing to help anyone that’s willing to listen and learn – but I simply have been taking on a handful of new projects. I mean, if I’m not making money online and some people know me as a MMO blogger, then don’t I lose credibility?

Yes.

Earlier today, I stumbled on a MMO blog that I’ve visited a few times before and my curiosity got to me so I checked their stats. Of course, their advertise page hasn’t been updated but after looking up some stats (besides Alexa, PR and all those other useless stats that don’t tell me anything) they’ve been averaging like 40-50 unique visitors per day.

Here’s the thing, they write a lot of posts about making money online, getting traffic and a bunch of “how to’s” but if they only gets 40-50 visitors a day (1,500/month) then why should anyone listen to them? What makes things worse, if they write posts on how to get traffic and they don’t, why would anyone listen to their money making tips knowing damn well they don’t make any (or enough) money?

What’s funnier is every aspect of my stats is better but they charge more to advertise on their blog than I do.

If you think I’m talking about you, then I probably am. Matter of fact that shot was taken at every single MMO blogger who have no idea on how to make money online. So, if you’re reading this and you run a MMO blog and make no money, then yes, I’m talking to you (all).

But back to my point, you should actually make money online first and then blog second. I mentioned that in a previous post but I figured I needed to mention that again.

In my case, I have my priorities, just like anyone else, of making money online because I need to pay bills and hopefully one day I can quit my day job. I try my best to manage a few blogs and post regularly but sometimes I just can’t because I’m so busy. Now, don’t get me wrong, if anyone needs help on anything that I can help with, I’ve always been there. Though, sometimes it takes me a little longer to reply back.

I mean, I care about my loyal readers and visitors and I will continue to help anyone and everyone that needs it. What I just have to mention is I have to set priorities to make money online to pay for bills but also, I don’t want to lose my credibility.

So, please bear with me!

And the picture is of Eva Mendes, it has nothing to do with the post but I haven’t posted a sexy woman for a while! And thanks to Matt for the suggestion!

The MMO blog market is so full of phonies, its not even worth reading the new ones. One could tell whether they truly are making money or not. I have seen several individuals at a very popular forum ask ” how do I get traffic to my new MMO blog so I can get my first adsense check”. My reply “WTF!”

AlexG – LOL! You’ll see that a LOT! I mean, why would they jump into that niche if the have no clue?

Now, I’m not saying I’m making millions or whatever, but I’m making a pretty decent income each month. And no, I don’t rely on an Adsense check lol!

But luckily, I do banner designs and I managed to find some unique ways of making more money online. :D

    Jay,

You’re absoulely right. If any blogger is blogging about MMO, but makes no money or not enough, they simply shouldn’t focus the blog topic on MMO. I actually suggest those bloggers to learn more first.

That may be true but guess I need to go back and read your previous posts.

How on earth can one Make Money First if you haven’t the page views or ratings to go with it.??

Now going to regress and go back to check the previous posts Musta missed something

    Good article by the way

I have noticed that many of the MMO blogs are not “really” successful. Some even admit to things like making 20 dollars last month. I just think that is funny :)

There are lots of blogs like that and I personally know a few of those bloggers. I just hope they realize it soon.
