I hear this question a lot, “can you really make money blogging? If so, how do you do it?” It’s simple, create a blog, build up your statistics for it and once the traffic comes, then you’ll make money blogging. And tons of it, may I add.
I think people get a little confused when they hear the phrase “make money blogging” because some tend to think they have to start a “make money online” (MMO) niche type of blog. But in actuality, you don’t have to. Matter of fact, I would highly suggest that you don’t start a MMO blog, and I can guarantee you’ll make more money blogging from another niche besides the oversaturated MMO.
If you don’t believe me, a good friend of mine, Rome, decided the MMO niche wasn’t for him anymore so he started to blog about what he liked and was interested in – video games.
Since he started doing that, all his stats skyrocketed. His daily unique visitors went from around 200 or so to 1,000-2,000+, his RSS Feed subscribers went from 50 to 500 700+ in less than one month since he made the switch. But the most important thing out of all this, he’s making more money blogging from that niche than he was in the MMO niche.
See, that must tell you something. You can make money blogging and you can simply discuss your interests instead of talking about something you don’t know too much about.
I had another example that I heard about a few months ago, but I couldn’t remember the blog’s URL. But I read from this magazine that a 17-year-old girl started a blog and since then, she’s making about $70,000/month.
Now, that’s what I call make money blogging! And yes, that $70,000/month was strictly from her blog.
I added that to let you guys know that you can definitely make money blogging. We all might not be able to make as much as that 17-year-old girl, but it’s definitely doable. (For the record, I heard her blog ranks around 400 overall on the internet and that’s higher than Oprah’s site, so that tells you something. Also, she basically discusses her life as a teenage female)
I decided to experiment with this and created a completely new blog outside of the make money online niche and I’m going to personally show you guys that you can make money blogging outside the MMO niche. Matter of fact, I have bets that I’ll make more with my other blog than I do with DatMoney.
Anyone want to take this bet? ![]()

Heck no I’m not taking that bet. I bet you’re right though. I simply don’t read the MMO blogs anymore as they’re mostly talk with no action. And it’s not always their fault but it’s time for more people to choose a different niche and leave that one to the ones who really are making money.
I’ll take the bet. Winning money is always good
I started with an MMO blog but decided to retire and went back to what I enjoy doing. Programming.
I don’t have money on my mind in the short run so I’m basically making my blog for the visitors and not for the money.

That’s excatly what I am thinking of. I think that I can tell more interesting stories talking about what I like, what I enjoy, or my challenges. I definetely think it will attract more visitors and increase my online revenue.
I think this post of yours is what will make me take the bet finally!
Katy - Well, let’s say I’m glad you come here
But I make a decent amount online but definitely not where I want to… but then again, I’m lazy and I procrastinate lol!
Jason - So, you think I wouldn’t make more money from a blog outside the MMO niche than this blog?
Talk Binary - Hey, it’s great making a blog for the visitors and all, but don’t you want to at least make money to pay for the hosting so your visitors can continue to come back?
O. Messaoud - You should always write about something you know about and it’ll be a LOT easier for you. Plus, if you started a MMO, a majority are already turned off by the thought of your site and won’t even give you a chance.

The first thing to do when entering into a bet is weaken your opposition by playing mind games. So no, you don’t have a chance, sorry dude.
Jason - LOL! Dude, playing mind games doesn’t work… and when you say things like I don’t have a chance, my hardheadedness takes aim and that just gives me more motivation to win!
But seriously, you’re trying to bet? lol

How about making of that a case study on DatMoney? Maybe you can start a series of posts about a blog you’ll start outside the MMO niche, and show us how you do it, from choosing a niche and a brand name, to making loads of money.
I am interested to know, and I’ll keep an eye on ya!

Internation Freebies - I’ll consider it but it’ll take some time because I currently have a few other blogs (some already up and running and some that will be up soon) and I’m testing out my own theory.
A good friend of mine, Rome, he already proves you can make more outside the MMO niche.
But I’ll consider the writing about the different niches I put myself in to see how much I make from them.

ashley was one of the very lucky ones with myspace niche. She did well even with a lot of problems. There have been quite a few others that made it big with myspace content sites but it’s not the best niche to get in anymore because of the insane amount of sites out there now and the completely crappy cpc that comes along with the niche.
But I do agree, mmo isn’t the best niche for most people. Highly targeted/specialized niches can do very well with gaining readers and selling/affiliates programs because they are so targeted they are already interested in most things you would talk about.

I heard some people making big money with celebrity and gossip blogs. I think making money online will depend on one’s patience and actions. Thanks for the heads up.
