I think 50K is a little silly, unless it is generating a ton more, that really is not a good business decision IMO. Political Disgust's last blog post..Wright is still wrong! Obama runs runs runs away.

I think fifty large once is a silly price for that blog – especially considering that only brings in two and a half grand a month. Assuming the purchaser even manage to keep that up (and let’s face it – that won’t happen without work), it’s going to take them twenty whole months to break even. The blog has a usable gimmick, but that gimmick also depends on someone else; John Chow. What happens to John Chow (and also his competition) greatly affects the value of the Cow site. The long term value of that domain name…. Pffftt. Bad purchase, IMO. You could have spent that much money so much more wisely on something else (I did work as an investment banker for a couple of years, so I’m not completely clueless when it comes to investing in things). I guess whoever bought it did so because they thought it was a fun site that they’d have fun working with. At least, that’s the only justification I can see for paying that kind of money for the thing.

And honestly: As mentioned already, when you buy a blog you don’t get the blogger. Just his home on the web. So why buy the blog then? Does anyone think that a domain name is that valuabe long term? Nobody even knows what blogging is going to be like three years from now.
So again: For fifty grand that is a bad purchase. Unless the buyer is John Chow himself, of course, and he just wants a site that ranks well for his own name…..
Anyway, I have trouble keeping up. Is the site sold now or what?

Jay, I’ll *say* your site is worth $15k, but I won’t buy it. I don’t have the money, for one thing.

I could see it becoming worth more than that in time. You’ve got a pretty good presence, people know you exist, and you have lots of thought-provoking articles. Not too shabby.
