No, this is not an April fool’s joke and no I’m not going to try to trick you guys with a crazy headline like “Oh no, my blog is stuck in my butt!” But this is a serious question that I’m going to ask you guys, “would you sell a permanent advertisement on your blog for $1,000?”
I’m sure a bunch of you guys would. I mean, I would even consider it. But what if you’re getting around 1,000 unique visitors a day, have 400+ RSS Feed subscribers and you have advertisers spamming your e-mails just to get that last ad spot on your site? And not to mention you’re already making some decent money on your PR3 blog?
Now would you do it?
Okay, maybe you need more details, right? Say the advertiser offered you $1,000 dollars but you basically have to put a full advertisement of their product/site in your background of your blogs theme, for as long as your blog remains on the internet!
Wait, there’s more…
In addition to the permanent display of their logo in the background of your blog’s theme, you would also have to include in 15 posts every month a small excerpt of their latest products and deals. Just incase you guys wanted to know, that would be 180 post ads throughout the year.
It almost sounds like that Text-link seller who contacted a bunch of us before. The only difference is that the price was definitely worth a second, third and fourth thought. I mean, its $1,000 guaranteed cash upfront.
I know I’m sounding a little biased here because I’m not in the person’s shoes. And it sounds like this person really needed the money, but did he sell out? Maybe this whole thing was just an April fool’s joke?
But according to TUK, it was not an April fool’s joke. Just take a look at his post and also check out the background. He claims he needed the money, but did he sell his soul for $1,000? (Okay, not really selling his soul) But given the fact that his blog has tons of potential, I had to question that decision for the long-term aspect of it.
But either way, what would you guys have done?

All depends. Jason said he needed some funding and it was a friend…
Typically I would not do it but it’s very hard to resist especially if you need the money. Frankly I’d be more worried from the buyers position not in this case but in general. What if the owner of he blog sells and the next person removes it?
All I know is if his blog EXPLODES and he’s getting offered 500 a month for a spot… Maybe this guy thinks Jason is going to get there…
It’s a hard decision and you’d have to weigh a lot of factors in.
Either way pretty cool
Your telling me you wouldn’t do it Jay?
Comon
Every blogger would accept this offer if they weren’t going to make that much money in one year, or even 6 months.
Then again, how much do you want to whore yourself off for? If your blog gets really popular, you could of screwed yourself big time for the amount of exposure that advertiser will get.
Its all a roll of the dice on the terms of popularity.. But a big chunk has to do with article writing and good advertising and SEO.
Oh the choices that the internet gives you!!
Brad.

I would do it. Other advertisers will follow for other ad spots. Where there is traffic, there is advertising opportunities. Every advertiser has a compititor. I’m didn’t notice a non compete.
Eathan’s last blog post..Spank My Ass
No way in hell I would do it.
I don’t think it’s real but judging by the number of commenters who DO and who say they WOULD do it too, I’d have to say that you’re nuts.
Jason’s site has a lot of potential and if this is the real deal he just flushed that potential down the drain.
He could open up a lemonade stand for the weekend on campus and make 1000 dollars.
If you’re thinking 1000 dollars is a lot of money then you need to readjust your goals in my opinion.

$1000 to display an ad for a fruity place that sells an electro-shocking productivity enhancer? Rather tempting, I’d say…

For a permanent link yes, permanent ad no, I’d have a clause so I could take it off at anytime haha..

Rob (bloggeries)- Yeah, I agree but Jason has tons of potential that’s the only reason why I questioned it. I mean, when and if he blows up, he’s gonna be stuck with that ad in the background… ewwww….
Brad – I would really consider it but you also have to take some things into the equation. For instance, what if he’s already making like $500+ a month? Now would it be worth it?
Eathan – But there’s no going back with this. Yeah, maybe other advertisers will follow, but they will never get that one particular spot because it’s taken for eternity!
Bill – You are right. I think I couldn’t have said it better myself. I swear it’s a April Fool’s joke by Jason because $1,000 isn’t as much as most people think. Especially with Jason’s potential and knowledge, you know?
Luke – $1,000 for the lifetime of your blog? What if you had the potential to make MORE than that on a monthly basis? Now would you?
Anythingblack – LOL! Once you take it off, your ass is gonna get sued or something LOL!
T (simplemindz) – But having the logo branded into the background of your theme? Wouldn’t that turn off some of your readers, if not all?
Anime – You would do it even if you could potentially make that much in a month of blogging?
Hani – LOL! I mean, we are all pretty desperate for money, but we also need to look at the bigger picture. What if my blog blows up, then I’m screwed with that ad in the background of my theme for as long as it’s up and running…
Jay
I think thats a big mistake selling permanent ad.
Always go for monthly or yearly deals.
Fitness Site’s last blog post..Watch Health videos
I wouldn’t do that.
My comment was firmly tongue in cheek, as I’m of the opinion that it IS an April fool’s joke.
If I could do it with just any old blog I started, I might be tempted to make a bunch of new blogs for that exact purpose. But if it was one I had a significant time investment into, I don’t think I’d take the deal.
Luke’s last blog post..Meditate, You Big Jerk!
Their full ad on the background? And 15 posts a month? I’ll make a counter offer of $10,000 for 3 years and review it for the next period
$1000, not enough cash for that!
Lisa C’s last blog post..Wordless Wednesday…#34
Fitness – Agreed. And that’s not ONLY ads, same goes for text links and stuff.
How to make money – But what would be a good price for you, if any?
Luke – Yeah, we all kinda knew it was an April Fool’s joke, but I figured I’d toss that out there to see what people would do IF they were approached.
Louis – Wow, now that sounds like a better price… $10,000… but damn, for 3 years? lol
Lisa – What would be YOUR going rate?
Jay
Jay’s last blog post..Would You Sell a Permanent Ad on your Blog for $1,000?
Hell No. $1,000 is peanuts compared to having to blog/annoy my users with a sponsored background for the lifetime of my blog.
Start talking $15,000+ and I’d consider lifetime assuming I still have the motivation to blog, but no way for $1,000 life time.
I probably would’ve done $1,000 for 6 months, but not lifetime.
Sammy Ashouri’s last blog post..Breaking Domain News ? !
Okay… In the hypothetical situation that I was approached about something like this, I should be honest and say that I might cave, depending how desperate I was. On the other hand, I know intellectually that it would be pretty darned stupid. But at TUK’s level, where he’s turning down $6000 offers and already making $500/month or so — seems like it would be relatively easy to turn down. (Provided I don’t have a bunch of loan sharks ready to auction off my kidneys.)
Luke’s last blog post..Do You Like This Blog? Do You Hate it?
wouldn’t do it. it’ll add a certain stigma to the blog that’ll never go away.
you: hey, Mr [add the name of a well-known blogger here], would you do a guest post for me on my blog? i really think my readers would enjoy it.
Mr [add the name of a well-known blogger here]: you have that blog with the chappies bubblegum background? um, er, you know what, i would have loved to help, but i’ve got violin lessons, from five till forever.
as stated above, start talking $15,000, and the ballgame changes completely.
Frankly speaking, it was tempting when I first read it and especially if I need money. Do I need money? You bet. LOL! However, on second thought, I don’t think I would. Permanent? When my blog is like that and just like you said it, it has more potential.
BK’s last blog post..We Can’t Take Today with Us
Sammy – $1,000 for 6 months? Damn, how much do you charge for your ad spots? lol
Luke – Yeah, we all knew Jason was pulling a prank but what if, right? I mean, you said you would probably cave in.
Jansie – So you would possibly consider a lifetime ad for $15,000? lol
BK – But what if you had lots of potential but say you needed $1,000 within the next couple of days? Now would you do it?
Jay
I would cave in
Thanks for the exposure, haven’t check Analytics but judging by the commments I think a fair amount of traffic will have been sent my way
Jason’s last blog post..TUK Sponsorship Deal Grows Even Further
in my opinion the advertiser is smart buyer and he will got
it for cheap price but how he will grantee the money
and yes cheap i will do a a theory here for messuring
the equation say pr3 and will be more in future
so pr3 in adsense program i guess will make 2.5 a day maybe more maybe less
then it will be in one year 2.5*365 = 912.5
so on this rule i will consider the price for one year

if in my blog now,, sure.. its not yet that much of a famous one anyway,, then, i wil just create a new blog,, haha,, but if I do have a great blog, no way for me to accept that.. unless that $1000 would be a yearly cost,, i’d make the blog all about them

Nope, I wouldn’t accept anything permanent. Two reasons, the first being nothing in life is permanent. The second being if you do a little math you find over time no money has been made and all that advertising has been given away for free. My link above is a post I wrote about this very topic not long ago.
valmg’s last blog post..By: Karen
It all depends on how much you were currently earning from your blog, and how long it would take for you to recoup that $1000.
If you have 4 ads for sale and they are pulling in $200 a month, then then I would definitely say take the money because the 1 ad will lose you $50 of monthly income but gain you a $1000 cash bonus.
You just have to weigh the positive with the negative in terms of cash in relation to time, and look at what tips the scale in it’s favor.
If I needed 12,000 dollars then yes I would do it, but in general I would be concerned that a deal like that is dictating to much for only the 1K per month. would not want to lose control of my site completely basically

I would have done that, being the fact that my current blog is not even worth that, and I could by better hosting and new blogs with that money, making it worth it in the long run.
