If you’re looking to make some extra cash as a blogger, paid reviews are a good way. I’ve compiled my list of paid review sites, but instead of listing them all at once, I’m breaking it up into 3 different posts.
Why?
Well, instead of just listing them, I’ve decided to give a little background on them, list their requirements, pros and cons. That way if you don’t like any aspect of their sites and how they are managed, you don’t even need to bother.
So, we’ll start with my first five sites:
PayPerPost – PPP is probably the most well-known paid review site out there now, that’s probably why Google has an ongoing feud with their customers (penalizing them with PR).
Requirements: Blog needs to be a minimum of 90 days old and have at least 20 total posts or more.
Pros: There are many opportunities that you get to choose from (currently 229) ranging anywhere from $5.00 USD to $250.00 USD.
Also, they have a lot of great referral programs - one which pays out a flat rate of $15.00 USD per standard referral and the other which is a “review my post” which pays out a flat rate of $7.50 USD once that person completes the review of your site.
Cons: Payouts are only once every 30 days in the form of Paypal. Google Pagerank is included in their rating system for a blog, yet, I heard Google is penalizing people that use Payperpost? Also, it took me quite sometime to get my blog approved.
SponsoredReviews – Out of all the sites, I like Sponsoredreviews the most because how they’re set up. They are very organized, well, let’s just say I like how their whole system is set up.
Requirements: Nothing really stated but I would assume your blog should be at least 30 days old with at least 10 posts. I think they also mention the fact that a majority of your posts cannot be sponsored reviews.
Pros: They have tons of opportunities that you get to choose from ranging anywhere between $5.00 USD to, get this, $999.00 USD. Also, their customer support is pretty good. I had a problem and they replied back to me in the same day… twice! I don’t know about you, but most places that a lot longer to get back to you.
Also, they pay out every 15 days. That’s basically how I get my paychecks at my job now!
Cons: Well, you only get 65% commission from each post. Also, I feel their referral program doesn’t pay as good because it’s based on how much their referrals earn or spend. If they don’t earn or spend anything then you don’t get anything either.
Smorty – I have heard a lot of good things about Smorty, though; I have yet to get those good results. But that’s just me, personally.
Requirements: They’re pretty tough to get in to. Matter of fact, I got rejected the first time I applied, but then, I didn’t read their requirements when I first signed up. I believe your blog needs to be at least 90 days old, indexed in both Google and Yahoo search engines and your blog needs to be actively updated, at least twice a week.
Pros: You get paid on a weekly basis so the more active you are, the faster you can get money. Matter of fact, I don’t think anyone else pays out that quickly.
Cons: You don’t get the liberty to choose from a list of different opportunities, it gets sent to you. Also, my current “tasks” doesn’t payout that great. It maxes out at $10.00 USD per review.
Also, I think their requirements are a little too strict. I mean, look at how much they pay for each post.
Buyblogreviews – they’re still fairly new, matter of fact, I signed up for them when they only had one opportunity available to write about. Now, they have definitely gotten bigger so you should see the potential. They have a whole list of opportunities.
Requirements: Definitely not as strict as most other paid review sites. I think you just need to have unique content on your site and your blog cannot contain porn, hate, well, and all the illegal stuff.
Pros: You get to choose from a list of opportunities and bid for them. Also, they have high commission rates of 70%. That’s actually very good compared to places that only pay out like 50-60%.
Cons: I didn’t like the fact that there are some opportunities that are as low as $3.00 USD. Also, I’m not too fond of their referral program. You get 15% on the total money spent on their first transaction.
Wait, so does that mean if my referral writes a review for $3.00 USD, I get $0.45?
Linkworth – is a great site because not only are they the middlemen for paid reviews, they are the middlemen for searching for advertisers and working on ad package deals for you.
Requirements: I’m not sure what the requirements are, but it was easy enough to sign up for them. Especially given the fact that they also act as the middlemen to get advertisers on your blog.
Pros: Out of all the paid review sites, this one also can find you advertisers if you’re having a tough time filling an ad spot on your site.
Cons: I’ll get back to you on this one.
Stayed tuned for the second batch of paid review sites!

PPP recently cut back to just requiring 30 days and 10 posts.
I like Sponsored Reviews too although I think some of the review requirements are quite dumb. Uh, guys, do you not think that Google has a bright young engineer who is a member of Sponsored Reviews who’s plugging every one of those non-disclosed review requests into a penalty database?
Smorty requires all review links to be followed. Say buh-bah to your PR.
Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to read part 2.
I once got a $16 for from S*o*ty… and another $14
Hi Jay, I don’t see no paid posts around here, do you do it in other blogs?
Payperpost are actually paying people to ADD nofollow links now! Every week or two I get an e-mail from them with a list of opps that I’ve done for which the advertiser is now paying another $4 for me to either add nofollow or delete the post.
I’ve started getting similar e-mails from SponsoredReviews - $5 a post they’re offering.
The problem is basically that google are starting to penalise people for buying links therefore some of the smarter advertisers are asking for nofollow to be added.
SponsoredReviews are open about what they charge. On most other sites you just see what you’ll get paid which is anything from 30% to 70% of what the advertiser actually pays.
Advertisers on Smorty tend to specifically ask if they don’t want nofollows.
Linkworth - I get some bids from them but, so far, the quality is very low and I’ve rejected all of them.
Hey Jay,
To your comment, “I heard Google is penalizing people that use Payperpost”…
I think they are. I think that on a sly level google doesn’t send much organic traffic your way when you mix in the PPP stuff.
I’ve done some unscientific research and found that the blogs and websites that stick strictly to their topic and don’t use paid reviews get higher Alexa rankings, and receive more organic traffic.
I just wrote a post about it this morning. I have since retired from sponsored/paid reviews.
Good post though.
Yeah, Google dropped my other blog from a PR3 to a PR0 after I added PPP to it.

Entrepreneur - Don’t worry about it. Luckily, PR isn’t what it used to be!
Great article, cant wait until you post part 2 de3fently going to use this
THANKS!!
Unfortunately since my blog is still new I’m having trouble getting approved at many of them.
LinkWorth did approve me, however, it seems to be harder to use than (for instance) pay per post.
The problem with paid review sites is that they ultimately degrade the quality of your other writing on your blog, weather you disclose it or not.

I spent $100 on reviewme.com to get 10 reviews and they were all junk. I find the prices at a lot of these sites truly astounding. Bloggers who are earning $10 a month or less in adsense charge hundreds for a review. It doesn’t make much sense to me.
