No Pagerank, No Problem: I Made $955.70 in February (Plus Recap)

I think there was a recent update with Google’s pagerank and yes, I’m currently still at PR0. But it’s okay, as I continue my journey in the Blogosphere and my entrepreneurship; I will still overlook that number that is becoming more meaningless as time goes on.

Update: Apparently, my blog is NOW a freakin’ PR4. Well, it wasn’t like that a couple days ago when I wrote this post lol. Thanks BlogEntrepreneur, BobbyT , and Bill for letting me know that! But either way, I made these earnings through February WITHOUT a pagerank anyways.

Now, before I get to my earnings for the month of February, just keep in mind that these numbers are my total amount I have earned online and not just from DatMoney.com. Though, a majority of the earnings come directly from this blog, I just wanted to mention that I am currently working on a few new projects. And yes, I am interested in collaborating with a good business partner if someone wants to propose something to me.

Now, understand that DatMoney.com is about three and a half months old but I didn’t really start promoting this blog until the beginning of January 2008. So, essentially, I have been dedicated to this blog for two full months.

Okay, so enough with the babbling and let’s get to the monthly online breakdown.

Adsense: $42.60

Personal Advertising: $95.00

With the Adsense, a majority of the clicks came through the top banner(s) on my site which gives me an estimate on how much it is worth per month. So, I will be raising the price of the 468×60 banner to $40/month rather than $30.

With my banner and ad designs, I currently have a few projects pending as I’m still working on some so I will carry those payments through to next month. And quick honestly, I didn’t think I was going to continue to get steady customers after my $1.00 promotion was over.

The “Misc” was inserted because I figured if I was showing how much I have made from online businesses then I’ll include everything (sort of how I included my ad/banner designs). But the “misc” could be anything from selling stuff online, getting tipped from my help or playing online poker.

I actually surpassed my goals for the month of February (revenue wise) as I was only aiming to make about $600.00 for the month. March’s income is aimed at $1,000.00 which I think will be hard to do, but I think I’m going to incorporate a few new things that will help.

As you know, I didn’t do that many reviews, and don’t get me wrong, I don’t plan on filling this blog up with them but I figured a few a month would be a good start. Out of all of these new ones, I think Payperpost and Linkworth will help me the most because of the opportunities and popularity of each site.

Also, I increasing my ad space because my blog is getting a little more exposure and people just love those 125×125 buttons! I’m currently sold out!

Here’s a quick recap on the blog stats:

Alexa: Still at 139,581 but that’s not too bad given the fact that it was over 850,000 at the beginning of January.

Technorati: Ranked 5,816 (Top 10K) which has surprised me a little bit given the fact I was ranked like 263,682 at the beginning of January. But I think a lot of it is because people like my posts and give me linkbacks, plus, if they like my banner design service, a bunch of people were kind enough to write a quick shout out. Oh, and don’t forget the couple of meme’s I participate in. But I’m aiming to get i the Top 5K by the end of March.

RSS Feed subscribers: At its highest day, I believe it was 177. I was hoping to possibly hit the 200 mark by the end of this month but I failed. But because of my contest (which I will be announcing the winner in a day or two) it jumped up from 127 to 177. Not bad, I suppose.

Unique visitors: This one is hard to say because I use three different tracking systems. But the average of the three was a little more than 6,500 visitors. I was aiming for 7,000, but that’s not bad especially since I REALLY started promoting in the beginning of January.

Congratulations!

One note of advice though. I don’t think you should declare to the whole world that you are doing paid blogging on this blog. There are people watching (especially Google) and they might harm you in silence.

Believe me, I have been slapped by Google before. So I know what I’m talking about.

Bobby - Apparently, they JUST switched that. But even with the PR4, I was a PR0 throughout 2008 until just recent. I actually wrote this post a couple days ago. So they must have recently updated it.

Home - Eh, I lived without a PR for the entire time until recent.

Bill - Like I told Bobby, it must’ve been updated VERY recent. But it doesn’t change the title because I had a PR0 when I “earned” that money through the entire month of February.

I agree Jay. I have zero PR, but I am still making money online and when you do a search for content on my blog (like the dating posts) I am showing up on the first page. So I am not worried about PR at all.

Jay, you want to hear a very bizarre thing? For the last few days I have been checking on your blog, and I am pretty sure it was still PR0, I visited right before this post is published and I think it is still PR0, then ta-da, checked back again, as I was reading this post, I realized something is wrong, you are PR4 yet claiming to be PR0, hehe! Guess you are destined to get this, you deserved it!

Very nice. Myself I am a bit frustrated with Google as they released my site with a pr0 with me having over 35k in backlinks….Funny I am double you and thats what they gave me and I don’t sell texT links nor do paid reviews for PPP.Weird eh, but I have asked them to reconsider cause thats BS to me for not doing anything wrong. But we shall see.

PR means absolutely nothing!! what cuounts most is content, RSS subscribers and newsletter subscribers. Most important of the 3 CONTENT, you give good content and in return you get paid.
Too much emphasis on PR, i think anyways, and not enough attention on what Really matters, giving people what they want - information.

A lot of people don’t realize it, but it isn’t always about pagerank. There are a lot of people out there making money from websites that have no pr. Great job, it is apparent how much work you have put into building your blog, to create an earning report like this in such a short amount of time.

Make money blogging - I agree with you completely. I’ve written about PR just being a number, not a big deal. And the fact that I’m a PR4 doesn’t change me one bit.

Business Opportunities Guy - Thank you, I’m just hoping to make this list bigger after each month. And from what you said, there’s the opposite too. I see a lot of people with PR3, 4, 5 and they can’t make a dollar from their blogs if their life depended on it. So, I guess that just tells you something, huh?

My blog don’t have a page rank. It also helped me to make actual money [my blog w/ my company web].

My story:
I’m a small roofing and waterproofing contractor based on Toronto. I start my blog[me and my father] in December because nothing to do in X’mas. My origional idea is to treat my blog as a faqs collection of our job and our thought.
I’ve a few extra telephone call for quotations, which are not our regular customers [because 60% my business come from property management and the rest is my father's old customer mainly Asian]. I also successfully finished two small job [chemical injection - repair basement concrete foundation] at $300 each.
The money I make in blogging [ and the $600] is not an issue. What make me happy is somebody actually read the stuff I wrote [broken English].

I don’t know what happened. My company web was there in long time. I haven’t make any SEO or submit new link recently. This morning when I log into my company web, I got Page Rank 1 from Google.
I just said that I make some actual money without Google PR in here a few days ago. I believe Google want to shut me up, so give me a PR 1[???]
I really don’t know how the PR work.

I honestly don’t worry about pagerank in the least. Although I have one that is PR5 No idea why though as it didn’t get half the hits my new one is getting

So Pagerank is definitely not priority in my books
