As a lot of you guys already know, I recently switched to Wordpress and my own hosting server last week. Remember, my site was down for a couple days and we had the picture of the lovely Eva Mendes bookmarking my homepage. But let’s not get off track here, but if you missed the nice picture and want to see it, click here.
It has only been one week since I officially switched to Wordpress, and besides all the additional features that you couldn’t do with Blogger, my stats also increased.
Coincidence? I think not!
Okay, I’ve been procrastinating about switching to Wordpress for a few months but I finally did and couldn’t be any happier. Honestly, some people kept making fun of the fact that I wasn’t getting comments because Blogger’s comment feature, um, pretty much sucks. On top of that, my design was so nice that a lot of newbie bloggers couldn’t find where the comment button was!
Of course all the Wordpress users are probably like “Well Jay, obviously Wordpress is better!” But damn, I didn’t know it was going to improve my stats so quickly!
The Stats…
I only posted three official times since I converted to Wordpress and since then, I have received almost 50 comments (excluding mine own replies). The week prior to me switching, I had about 24ish and a majority of that came because of the “If You Didn’t have Entrecard, Your Blog Would Have No Visitors” article I wrote.
So far so good, twice the comments which shows the quality of my visitors!
Now the visitors… well, the visitors in quantity was slightly down, but then again, I didn’t really hit the social media sites and when I didn’t, I started to get more quality visitors and it boosted my Alexa ratings. (Alexa daily was hovering around 40-50,000 and the week prior was around 80,000)
And since my switch, my pageviews has been almost three times higher than before!
Okay, you must’ve did something different Jay!
I guess, but I haven’t been marketing my articles as much as I usually do and my stats are still increasing? So, the difference, I guess I did less marketing than I normally would.
Hmm… so stats went up since switching to Wordpress… coincidence, I think not!
So, what in the hell was the point of this article? Well, if you want to increase your visitors, comments, interaction with your readers, boost your Alexa ratings, etc, you might want to consider switching to Wordpress.
Hey, I did it and so far it’s been wonderful.
Now I wonder was it because of my “top commentators” plugin or the “comment luv” plugin? Eh, either way it’s helping you guys as well as me!

Congrats on switching over successfully. As for me, I started my blogging venture straight out of paid hosting and the WP system, so I don’t know how it is like running on those free sites. All I know is that I HATE the Blogger commenting system and I usually do not comment because of that

Congrats. Wordpress certainly gives you much more freedom in terms of customization and plugins. I started with wordpress right away, which was a good fit for me since I don’t know that I could have started in another format and moved over to WP without any glitches. Good job!

Mirjam – Yeah, a lot of fellow bloggers kept teasing me about the Blogger commenting system lol! See the comment right below you (Mike’s) lol
Mike – I honestly started at WP off their free hosting and wasn’t too impressed, but I didn’t know anything back then lol… but you’re not the only one that doesn’t like the Blogger commenting!
Random – Thanks man! Again, I couldn’t be more happy. Wait, yes, I could. Someone could pay for my hosting!
lol

I migrated from the blogger thing in 05 and never looked back. Except for some random stuff on old blogger blogs hanging around.
Wordpress is THE one. I am amazed that so many great bloggers still do blogger. Rock on, bro!

Welcome to the wonderful world of WordPress… may it bring you many years of personal frustrations as you try to piece together lines and lines of broken PHP code.
Joking!!!

Tony – Yeah, I was trying to switch over a while ago and hopefully I’m never looking back either!
Mike D – Yeah, there are a bunch of people still using it but they’ll eventually come to their senses.
Garry – LOL! I did have a stupid broken PHP code but I fixed it. Luckily, I know some CSS and HTML!

Ok, Jay..this was not what I had in mind when I asked for a headliner pic of a ‘hot male’…lol..Geesh.
Seriously, though. That was really quite interesting about the stats. There was a thread on the BC forum today, asking about increasing stats. I mentioned this article of yours and your experiences with Wordpress.
Kudos on the results.

I’d say definitely coincidence, that being said on the 21st there was a bad Google update to the SERPs which they have just reversed in the last day or so. I just ran my latest ranking report and jumped 20 positions across 6 terms so approx 3 positions per term. Cheers.
Welcome to WP. It’s no coincidence. I love WP

Tamera – You mean, you don’t think he’s hot?! Lol… thanks for the shout out!
Dennis – Does that actually work? I was never a fan of following comments by e-mail. But if you think it will work, I may just test it out.
Hani – The power compels us all… did I even spell that right?
SEO – But it can’t be a coincidence that my comments are a lot higher, right? A lot of people think Blogger commenting is a big turn-off.
Eathan – Dammit, second person that said it was no coincidence lol!

Honestly, I think a Wordpress blog is more fun to read. Being new to blogging, I have been visiting a lot of blogs. It took me a couple of days to realize that I spent longer on the WP blogs than I did the others. Obviously, the format is somehow different and that attracts me. Oh well, thanks again.

Congratulation on your shifting. I never know that WP can improve the state. If I know early, I shoul;d start with WP, instead of blogger. Thanks for the sharing. ^^
