Do you know more about computers and gadgets than your parents? Are you 5-years-old? It seems this day and age that the more society changes with technology, the more young people are taking over. And yes, they are making enough to support their parents!
Well, maybe not when they’re 5-years-old. But nowadays there are lots of teens and pre-teens that have technology and internet embedded into their daily routine that they no longer need to deliver newspapers and clean like I had to. They are making enough money (a lot more than lunch money) to be able to support themselves, if they wanted to.
And some are!
Since this is a blog, let’s focus on the younger demographic making money from blogging specifically. There are well over 75 million blogs out there (and yes, that’s a ridiculous figure) and the authors can range anywhere from pre-teens (or even younger) to retirees. Now, I know age rarely takes into account for blogging but isn’t it interesting how much money teens make nowadays?
I recently read this article about a 17-year-old girl who has a blog about her life as a female teenager and she has already made enough money from it that she bought herself a house of her own. Matter of fact, if I read right, she makes well over $70,000 a month… just off of Adsense alone!
That just makes you think how much she really makes in total, doesn’t it? I mean, those numbers put a lot of A-list bloggers to shame if you ask me.
Luckily, you’re not asking me.
If you’re wondering how she does it, well, you got me. But she decided to drop out of high school (hey, Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard and you see where he’s at now!) and expand on her business. And for the record, her site is ranked higher than Oprah’s. Yes, the-one-and-only Oprah.
If you are jealous impressed, teenagers are making more money off of blogging than most adults with a 9-5 job. And those numbers are just increasing by the minute.
I actually know a 14-year-old who probably makes enough money that I doubt he will ever need to work anywhere else but from his own home. I’m sure most of you guys know who he is already, but if not, try Googling the words “Make Money Online” and he’ll be the top ranked search.
Now one can argue that retirees do not need to make money anymore, they’re retired and can hit the casinos everyday if they wanted to. But look at the internet and the whole social networking sites there are. The younger demographic are expanding and a lot are making profits from it.
I’m not retired nor am I a teenager, but can you say technology is not getting taken over by the young? I know that is a very generic thing to say, but as a person in their mid-20’s who knows a pretty good amount on internet, programs, technology, etc, I am extremely impressed with pre-teens and teenagers who invent new gadgets or make enough money online to retire by 21.
Hey, I’m not jealous… I just wasn’t thinking about making money when I was a kid.
Puberty and girls = fun and interesting time!
But damn, why was I so distracted? Should’ve started when I was 13!

You are absolutely write, but I question myself why does our values became the worthless to our children?
I was happy to mark your blog as my favorite.
The reporting of the truth isn’t the answering why do we became the retired, but that needs lots of courage and thus enables to forget the personal needlessness in the world where crown the youth and totally new “traditions” (it looks as if there is nothing sacred except the profit and money making is one and only thing that’s worthy)
The reality threatens more than the cruelest wars, because it is the direct result of such politics…
In other words, my comments tend to become endless notes – in short, thank you for the word of the truth.
Nice post. You are the youth are learning quickly to make money. More power to them.
This is a good thing all those young minds full of mush making tons of money.
