I was a relatively early political blogger and I set myself the goal of writing one good, thought provoking original piece a week and sharing quick comments and links when I could. Some days that was three times a day and sometimes it was every couple of days. Now, with so many people link blogging and repeating the talking points of their "side", I'm perfectly satisfied to write that original piece once a week - and my traffic hasn't suffered at all. On the other hand, if your goal is to have readers and not just to shout to the world whether it's read or not, committing to some sort of schedule and working to write good posts on that schedule is important. The schedule doesn't have to be daily, by any means, though.

Great information. Quality is where it's at no matter what it's regarding. I like writing and sharing knowledge with others. But it's also wise to take a break and promote yourself. Plus it's good to get outside and see the rest of the world.

DJ
Boise, ID
http://webguyguru.blogspot.com/

You're so right! But it is also logical to strive for daily post, especially when you are a new blogger. It is a sure way to get heard.
I love RT Cunningham's comment!

Hey great post! You really hit the nail on the head here.

I've been wrestling with this notion for a while now too. I've been blogging daily for the past 6 weeks, but lately it has become increasingly difficult to write great content, since blogging itself is really dominating my time.

I think I may ease up a bit on the posting for a while so I can finally get some serious work done, and hopefully in turn get more ideas to blog about.

Then, I'll not only be bringing more interesting stuff to the table, it'll be of much higher quality.

I guess there's no shame in that, although it's kind of tough to let go of the daily posting streak :P

LOL I have to disagree, but this is just me, I guess.

I do not run into these so called bloggers writers block problem etc.

My main problem is that I do not have enough time to roll out my posts.

24 hours a day is not enough. T_T

Hence, my problems is prioritizing which article to push out first.

Oh yeah, I make it an effort to pust out at least an article per day.

If I missed a day, I do a post dated post LOL.

Cheers!

I gotta agree with you. I usually end up posting everyday. I use the google notebook to list things/topics that I want to talk about.

I'm really new to the blogging scene, hadn't written, or really read one before. I wasn't aware of the *rules* on posting frequency and from the beginning I decided to only post twice a week. It suites me and I think I'll keep it this way, I hope my readers feel the same way?

I actually have the opposite problem. I don't know when to shut up. I'll cure it kinda sorta when I branch out to some other blogs starting in March.
