I can agree with the poster and most of the other commenters here. Most of the time, the Google PageRank slap is simply for display purposes only; it does not actually affect search traffic.

My beloved blog at Karlonia.com got reduced from PR3 back to zero around the beginning of April, but my overall search traffic has actually increased slightly. After looking back through my older posts, I have surmised that the PageRank drop may have been because of not putting nofollow on the affiliate links. During those first few months, I was not aware that we were supposed to do this in order to avoid a penalty.

I have been gradually going back through these old posts and “condomizing” these kinds of links. When I have finished with all of them, I may go ahead and file a reinclusion request with Google just to see if I can recover the visible PageRank.
