If you had to pick between spam e-mails or telemarketers, which would it be? Of course, the obvious choice would be “neither” but can we stop either or? Probably not. So, you’re probably wondering what in the hell is this post about in regards to blogging? Well, keep reading.
I actually decided to write about this topic because not less than 10 minutes ago, I heard a telemarketer leaving a message on my answering machine, “this is an important notice regarding your vehicle’s warranty.”
And yes, that woke me up.
Then I turned on my laptop to check my e-mail to get 15 spam messages in my junk folder. Though, two of them were actually legit e-mails, but on the other hand, I got two spam messages in my inbox which cancels out.
And this was only one e-mail account!
It irritates me when spam messages get deleted when it’s actually legit, or when I get a recorded voice on my answering machine and it’s actually my student loans company calling me and I overlook the message.
So, what does this have to do with blogging?
Well, how many blogs are currently out there? Like 11 million? I think I’m underestimating it, but you get the idea. Now how many of those 11 million are just fake “spam” blogs a.k.a. “splogs?” And I know you probably have run into a few of them before. They’re filled with porn, no real posts, a bunch of affiliated links, etc. Or sometimes they look legit, but all the content is stolen.
Now, what’s the point of spam e-mails and telemarketers? It’s for you to buy some sort of product or service. A lot of people actually get tricked into downloading something that “will help you with your blogging or pagerank.” Either that or people see an affiliate link that catches their eye and they click on it, then the spammer gets paid?!
And if you’re visiting this blog, you know about Entrecard.com. It seems people are just creating splogs so they can build easy credit and sell it for actual cash.
Shameless, isn’t it?
Well, we might not be able to stop the spam e-mails or telemarketers completely, but there’s always ways to fight against it. And same goes for the “splogs” out there.
If you don’t do anything about it, more than likely they will remain and continue to annoy you just as much as spam e-mails and telemarketers.
So, which is worse? Spam e-mails or telemarketers?
“Neither.” It’s the “splogs” that are worse!

Wow. This is the second post I’ve read in a row from my subscription list on this subject. The other one can be found at this link..http://www.my-creativeteam.com/blog/?p=574
Obviously it must be that time of the year! I get calls year round because of my business so I’d say the telemarketing computers are my bane. Spam emails I simply delete which I know takes time (when you get hundreds per day), but I’d still rather have them over a phone I have to answer!
I’ve had those marketing calls about my car’s warranty as well, what the hell? They say hit #3 if you want to be removed, I do but they still call back. And splogs, well they just make me sick. What really makes me mad is when I do a web search and all I get are sites with more links. Ewww they waste my time!
I think the guy in this video has the right idea

I thought I was the only one getting those calls about my car’s warranty. I figured it was due to the fact I just got the number in July and I keep receiving calls for “Roger” who apparently owes everyone under the sun. Now, if it’s a live person on the other end of the phone- I’d rather get a telemarketing call. It’s more fun to mess with them
One nice way to get rid of unwanted calls is get a number from Grand Central. It’s very easy to screen or block callers.
Best,
