set your blogging goals for the new yearWe all want to set some sort of goal because you never want to settle for less, right? And although, we will have our own individual goals (as a blogger), here are some points you may want to really focus on – maybe even for a New Year’s Resolution for 2008?

First, set realistic goals. You don’t want to go out and say, “I’m aiming to make a million dollars by the end of this month!” Yet, you’re sitting on a total of $50 earned. The more realistic the goal, the more motivation you’ll have to complete it and keep building from it. The purpose of setting goals is to achieve them – don’t jump the gun, take your time! Patience is the key.

Think about it. When you have those small goals that you achieve, isn’t there some sort of accomplishment to strive for more?

Take small steps, eventually the million dollars will come (hopefully). Just work hard and try to stay on top of things.

Here’s a list of things you should include within your blogging goals:

  • Daily/monthly unique visitors
  • Daily/monthly page views
  • RSS Feed subscribers
  • How often you’re able to post
  • Average comments received per post
  • Alexa and or Compete ranking
  • Technorati rank
  • Google pagerank
  • Monthly/yearly revenue
  • Backlinks to your site
  • Search engine ranking position
  • Popularity on social networking communities (like mybloglog, blogcatalog)
  • Popularity on social bookmarking sites (like digg, stumbleupon, mixx)

The more you focus on this group of blogging goals, the larger your steps will be for becoming successful in the blogging world.

Good luck to everyone, hope you had a Merry Christmas and 2008… here comes the New Year!
