I’m sure everyone is looking to make some extra cash from their websites or blogs and a great way of doing so is to visit ‘Dat’Money.com regularly! Well, besides that, you can go through affiliated programs. Here are some things you should know before you jump into registering.
Find out what you’re getting into, first! A lot of people tend to sign up for big name companies from what they see on other peoples’ websites or blogs, but is that truly the right choice? Probably not. Just because an affiliate program may work for some people, it doesn’t mean it will work for everyone.
Make sure you do research prior to signing up for any affiliate programs to see if it’s the right one for you. Plus, you don’t want to get scammed or end up on someone’s mailing list and get spammed.
Ask around. Go talk to some truthworthy people that have been in the program that you’re interested in. In addition to that, check out the company’s website, but also, try looking up information on them through search engines. If they’re getting lots of bad reviews, chances are you shouldn’t sign up for them.
You should never join without doing some sort of research on the affiliate program.
Will it cost you anything to join? Probably not. Most affiliate programs nowadays are free to join but there are some that will sucker you into paying them a small fee. I would try to avoid those.
Oh, here’s an interesting thing I read. Supposedly, you do not have to give out your social security number or tax ID unless you are going to get paid $600 dollars or more. But of course, you will not get any paycheck unless you give them that information.
But check how these affiliate programs pay, how frequently, etc. Every program is different. Most places have an option to get paid through paypal for secure and fast payments, but there are some that only issue hard checks.
Every affiliate program has a minimum amount that you have to accure before they issue a check. Most affiliate programs send out checks once a month, though, some send it out every two weeks, while there are a few that send it out quarterly.
What are the various ways to earn money from affiliate programs? Most of them are based on commission, though, a lot of places also pay for hits and impressions. Hits and impressions become a large part especially if the program you are in offers low sales commission.
And of course, what is the amount of commission you would get? Well, most programs offer anywhere between 5% - 20%, on average, but you will occasionally find a few that are higher than that. Also, the average amount per hit is usually between .01% - .05%. If these programs also offer payment for impressions, more than likely it’s a low number.
There will be more information to come regarding affiliate programs, and I will discuss which ones have worked well for me.
