I’m sure there are tons of people that read blogs they love on a regular basis. But why don’t most of them ever comment? It usually takes only an extra minute or two to say something to show the author you read what they wrote, whether it’s good or bad. Also, you must like the site enough to continue to go back so why not comment? If you continue to read their blogs but never comment, you might as well just subscribe to their feeds. But if you ‘do’ comment, the author will definitely appreciate it; sometimes the authors appreciates it enough to reward their commenter’s.
A friend of mine, Sharon from TheDivaNetwork.com, has taken her time to give back to her readers by rewarding them with blogrolls. Basically, if you become a regular commenter, she adds you to the blogrolls which will increase your page ranking and get you free publicity from her readers.
Well, wouldn’t the list get extremely long? Probably. But they do blogroll clean-ups for those that try to sneak one comment in and never go back. They do give some sort of warning before deleting them because all they ask of their readers is to participate and be active, but more importantly, to continue to come back.
Hey, I continue to go back because it’s a great site. (And I’m not just trying to suck up. – Hey Sharon!)
Different sites do different things because rewarding the readers is a great way to give back, especially the fact that if there are no readers, then what’s the point of having a blog?
Jack from JackBook.com also has system to reward commenter’s. Though, I have seen this on various sites already, he rewards the top commenter’s from his blog. Basically, the more active you are with commenting, the better your chances are to get included with some good page rankings.
But in addition to that, he also has a feature blog of the week in which he chooses a blog from his commenter’s. What he does is he will review your site, get all the goods (and possibly the bad) and dedicate an entire post on that person’s site. So, he definitely does a great job giving back to his readers.
By the way, thanks Jack for a great layout!
These two blogs are good examples on how they end up with loyal readers that continue to come back. Both blogs are successful in their own ways and obviously, the success comes from you, the readers, and they want to thank you for that.
I will have a special feature to reward my readers as well, as soon as I get more publicity to this blog, cause again, it is fairly new.
But I do already have a “Special Thanks To…” section. Check it out and hope to hear from you!

That is some great advice. I think I’m going to add a ‘friends of…” blogroll section to my blog.
Thanks for the inspiration!

I saw your reply in the linkreferral forums and wondered if we could exchange links?
A yes reply on my blog’s latest post would do. I would put up the link immediately
